Full Job Description
A Field Engineer III performs as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments and performs a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of complex electronic/mechanical equipment and systems. Will provide subject matter expertise and oversite of the operation and maintenance of systems in support of the Range Target Environment to support 25th Space Range Squadron and range users. The Field Engineer III will ensure smooth transition of new range systems from the Engineering and Integration team to the Operations and Maintenance team.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
  • Leads a work center of three field engineers, assigns task, prioritize tasks, manages schedules for operational range support to include deconflicting maintenance and ensures range systems are upgraded when directed
  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects
  • Schedules, conducts, and accesses training progression for employees for task certification of mission systems
  • Ensures work center is compliant with safety, quality assurance, configuration management, and logistical standards while accounting for over 500 pieces of government furnished section assets
  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems/projects. This will include all of our mission areas ranging from the Space Range Operations Center, Range Close Loop Environment, Transportable Range Operations Center, and Range Target Equipment
  • Recommends disciplinary and corrective actions for unsatisfactory work performance to the supervisor
  • Directs other timely actions in support of mission requirements to include creating products that will ensure mission employment is successful and within company and Department of War standards
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:
  • Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable senior technical contributor-level performance on complex projects or programs
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning/organizational skills
  • Technical Skills
  • A working knowledge of Frequency Division Multiple Access and Time Division Multiple Access satellite routed signals/networks to include any teleport and distant end configuration of various very small aperture terminal systems manufacturers
  • Practical knowledge of satellite communications (SATCOM) theories to include directional and electronically steered antennas, high power amplifiers, up/down converters, feed horns, satellite communications payloads, and other equipment used in transmitting and receiving SATCOM
  • Desired previous experience as a former SATCOM technician and/or electromagnetic warfare operator
  • Planning large force exercises and electromagnetic warfare system testing by translate training and test objectives into an executable SATCOM environment. Organizational skills to manage people, equipment assets, and projects.

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $88,000 to $140,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market/business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
