Job Summary:

The Field Construction Equipment Manager will oversee all aspects related to the construction equipment on large scale projects with multiple disciplines and areas of work. The role ensures that equipment is available, functional, and used efficiently to meet project timelines and safety standards. #LI-TH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Planning & Allocation: Determine what machinery is needed for the project and schedule its delivery and deployment. Evaluates and prepares workforce requirements.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Ensure regular servicing and quick repairs to minimize downtime. Plan, direct, and control the maintenance of fleet equipment and maintenance of service documents.
  • Compliance & Safety: Verify that equipment meets safety regulations and operators are properly trained. Manage the construction equipment resources on site in compliance with project HS&E policies and the applicable CORE Processes and SWPP'S. Provides training to ensure adherence and understanding of safe equipment usage requirements and practices.
  • Cost Control: Monitor equipment-related expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and rentals, to stay within budget. Prepares equipment operating cost budgets. Plan, direct, and control the maintenance of fleet equipment and maintenance of service documents.
  • Inventory Management: Track equipment usage, location, and condition throughout the project.
  • Coordination: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and vendors to align equipment availability with construction phases. Monitors the activities of proposed subcontractors or vendors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Reporting: Oversees equipment maintenance systems reporting and equipment records management. Ensures that all the required daily, weekly and monthly reports are generated and distributed for use and analysis


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.Minimum of 5 years of Project Equipment Management experience is required.Preferred fields of study include construction management, engineering, industrial technology, or business administration, with 10+ years of practical work experience.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the following equipment (or equivalents): Caterpillar Earthmoving Equipment, Demag, Liebherr, Manitowoc, Terex and Grove cranes, JLG , Gradall, IR forklifts, JLG and Grove Manlifts, along with Caterpillar, Cummins, and Perkins engines.
  • Has understanding of equipment warranties, performance guarantees, and equipment fitness for use.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline construction and or operating functions.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance requirements. Ensures compliance with Bechtel's core value of zero accidents and project safety goals.
  • Knowledge of heavy-industrial equipment management work processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge in the use of subcontracts and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodologies.
  • Certified Equipment Manager (CEM) from AEMP (Association of Equipment Management Professionals).
  • OSHA Safety Certification for field compliance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) for leadership in complex projects.
