ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Fannie Mae DUS Director II supports the agency lending platform focused on Fannie Mae Delegated Underwriting and Servicing (DUS) programs. The incumbent plays a critical role in executing strategic initiatives, managing underwriting and closing functions, and driving origination volume within the Fannie Mae business line. The position requires strong expertise in agency lending, multifamily finance, and client relationship management to ensure competitive positioning against alternative capital sources such as Freddie Mac, CMBS, Life Companies, Banks, and Credit Unions.

The Director II will work closely with senior leadership to achieve production goals, maintain high credit standards, and deliver exceptional client service. This role combines operational oversight with active involvement in origination and portfolio management.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities for this role are below; you may support projects of varying complexity based on skill and organizational priorities.

  • Partner with senior leadership to implement strategic initiatives and meet annual production targets.
  • Collaborate with Fannie Mae Customer Engagement team on waiver requests, pricing, and transaction structuring.
  • Oversee underwriting and closing functions to ensure alignment with origination goals and credit standards.
  • Actively manage a portfolio of Fannie Mae and balance sheet loans, including permanent, construction, and bridge financing.
  • Assist in vetting, sizing, and quoting new loan requests to improve turnaround times and deal capture rates.
  • Maintain involvement in processing and closing of Fannie Mae loans to ensure collaboration and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain client, broker, and property-level databases to support pipeline stability.
  • Cultivate internal referral relationships through communication and collaboration with branch networks and other departments.
  • Support Relationship Managers with marketing, waiver/pricing requests, and asset management issues as needed.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to inform business decisions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Banking, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in multifamily agency lending, including Fannie Mae DUS programs.
  • Strong credit training and underwriting expertise.
  • Proven ability to manage complex transactions and loan portfolios.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of Fannie Mae DUS program guidelines and agency lending processes.

Total Base Pay Range 121,900.00 - 262,100.00 USD Annual
