This position functions in a clinical capacity with clients and sets admissions parameters, lab protocols, creates standing orders if needed, orders medication, reviews MAR, and provides medication education to clients and families. Duties
- Reviews labs, ekg, medical records to approve/set parameters for admission.
- Reviews history and provides a physical at time of Admission.
- Creates standing lab protocol via order for patient.
- Writes any standing orders (as needed)
- Provides weekly medical check-in and reviews weekly labs
- Utilize E prescribing system in KIPU to access for refill needs
- Leave orders for RN to follow up with external medical providers to address any pertinent medical issues not being managed by TranscendED or that need further asx
- Review MAR
- Phlebotomy (as needed for weekly lab draws)
- Weekly meeting with Psych NP and Medical Director
- Provides medication education to clients/parents
- Weekly follow up with parents re client medical status or questions regarding labs
- Responsible for the discharge planning process and documentation
- Other duties as assigned by Medical Director
- $15 per hour for three-day initial training
Requirements
- +3 years of experienced with ability to establish workflow for medication distribution
- Must be licensed in NC
- Medication Administration certificate required
- Maintain DEA registration
- Maintain ANCC Certification
- Graduated from Masters level Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited School of Nursing
- Must have considerable knowledge of nursing principles and practice, must demonstrate knowledge of medications and their proper application and use.
- One year experience working with mental health clients, preferably in Eating Disorder counseling setting (preferred)
- Must attend weekly medical meeting (at 2pm) for 1 hour
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams; working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is desirable.
