Position Summary:

The Falck Health Institute is seeking an experienced and innovative EMS Faculty member to join our growing education team. Reporting to the Director of the Falck Health Institute, the EMS Faculty member collaborates closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Health Institute leadership, adjunct faculty, and operational partners to deliver exceptional emergency medical education while advancing the Institute's mission of developing the next generation of EMS professionals.

As a key member of the education team, you will contribute to the planning, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of initial EMT education, continuing education, and research initiatives. Responsibilities include teaching and lecturing in traditional, hybrid, and simulation-based learning environments; facilitating psychomotor skills instruction and assessment; participating in curriculum development and program evaluation; and incorporating current evidence and educational best practices into the learning experience.

Beyond the classroom, EMS Faculty serve as mentors, coaches, and advocates for student success. Faculty foster an engaging, inclusive, and psychologically safe learning environment that encourages critical thinking, professionalism, and lifelong learning while preparing students to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based patient care.

Compensation: $80,000-$110,000 annual

Responsibilities:

• Deliver initial EMT and other healthcare education programs using lectures, case studies, small group discussion, the Socratic method, simulation, and activity-based learning in both classroom and online learning environments.
• Demonstrate, evaluate, and provide feedback on EMT psychomotor skills through hands-on instruction and simulation.
• Assess student learning through written examinations, practical skills evaluations, scenario-based assessments, and constructive feedback.
• Support student success through tutoring, academic coaching, study sessions, and guidance with program requirements, onboarding, and required documentation.
• Foster an engaging, inclusive, and psychologically safe learning environment that promotes critical thinking, professionalism, and student success.
• Deliver continuing education and professional development programs, including courses developed by the American Heart Association, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, and other approved educational organizations.
• Develop, maintain, and organize instructional materials, lesson plans, simulation equipment, and educational technologies to support effective course delivery.
• Participate in curriculum development, revision, and continuous quality improvement activities to ensure educational content reflects current evidence, accreditation standards, and best practices.
• Maintain instructor certifications and remain current with developments in EMS education, clinical practice, and instructional methodology.
• Collaborate with the Health Institute leadership team to recruit, advise, and communicate with prospective and current students.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, accreditation processes, and other organizational initiatives as assigned.
• Represent the Falck Health Institute at local, state, national, and international meetings, conferences, and community events.
• Contribute to the advancement of the Falck Health Institute through committee participation, research, community outreach, program innovation, or other special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications:

• Current licensure as a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) or licensed California Paramedic.
• Ability to obtain and maintain accreditation as a paramedic in Orange County.
• Completion of an EMS Instructor course consistent with the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors (2002), or the ability to obtain such certification within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in emergency medical services on an ambulance, within a fire department, or in a hospital emergency department.
• Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in emergency medical services or a comparable healthcare education setting
• Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating educational programs or courses.
• Working knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, educational theory, and the effective use of simulation to achieve learning objectives.
• Comprehensive knowledge of prehospital emergency care, EMT and paramedic scope of practice, provider-level psychomotor skills, and current evidence-based clinical practice.
• Working knowledge of EMT and paramedic education program requirements, course objectives, accreditation standards, and initial and continuing education programs.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning objectives using lectures, simulation, case-based learning, active learning strategies, and guided discussion.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex clinical concepts into clear, engaging, and understandable instruction.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based education, continuous quality improvement, and the use of learner outcomes to improve educational effectiveness.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a dynamic educational environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish productive working relationships with students, faculty, operational personnel, organizational leadership, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and contribute positively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service to students, colleagues, and external partners.
• Proficiency with personal computers, Microsoft Office applications, learning management systems, and other instructional technologies.
  Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Emergency Medical Services, Education, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, or a closely related field.
• National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor Certification.
• Experience with curriculum development, educational assessment, accreditation processes, or simulation-based education.
