JOB DESCRIPTION

Help shape fair and responsible banking at JPMorganChase. In this role, you’ll advise on high-impact federal consumer protection and reinvestment requirements affecting products, policy, and customer outcomes. You’ll partner closely with business, Compliance, and Government Relations to navigate exams, interpret regulatory change, and influence industry positions. As anAttorneyin theFair and Responsible Banking Legalteam, you provide strategic legal counsel on the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Military Lending Act (MLA), and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), with potential support on additional consumer protection laws. You will help business leaders identify and manage legal and regulatory risk, execute initiatives responsibly, and maintain strong relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders. You will also contribute to policy development, compliance controls, training, and industry engagement to support sustainable, compliant growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Advisebusiness leaders and cross-functional partners on SCRA, MLA, and CRA legal requirements and risk implications.
  • Supportregular examinations and interactions with banking regulators, including preparation, issue management, and response coordination.
  • Evaluateproposed business initiatives and transactions to identify legal risks, requirements, and implementation considerations.
  • Researchandanalyzefederal and state statutes, regulations, guidance, and enforcement actions relevant to CRA, SCRA, and MLA.
  • Monitorregulatory developments and emerging trends;communicatetimely updates and recommended actions to stakeholders.
  • Partnerwith Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs to assess public policy proposals and support advocacy strategies.
  • Reviewandinterpretpolicies and procedures impacted by CRA, SCRA, or MLA considerations;guideimplementation with stakeholders.
  • Collaboratewith Compliance, Controls, and other internal teams on risk identification, remediation, and sustainable control design.
  • Developanddeliver(or support development and delivery of) training and educational materials for internal teams.
  • Engagewith trade organizations and industry participants to develop positions,draftcomment letters, andcoordinateresponses to regulatory proposals.
  • Coordinateacross interdisciplinary teams to manage multiple high-priority matters, balancing speed, quality, and risk discipline.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD)(or educational equivalent) andactive bar membershipin good standing, meeting licensing requirements for the role location prior to start date.
  • 5+ yearsof legal or equivalent experience, with meaningful exposure tofinancial regulatorymatters.
  • Demonstrated ability to providepractical, business-oriented legal advicein a regulated environment.
  • Proven experiencemanaging multiple high-priority issuessimultaneously with strong judgment and attention to detail.
  • Stronglegal research and analyticalskills, including interpreting regulations, guidance, and enforcement activity.
  • Excellentwritten and oral communicationskills, including ability to synthesize complex issues for senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively incross-functional, interdisciplinary teams(e.g., business, Compliance, Controls, Government Relations).
  • High standards ofethics, professionalism, and integrity, with sound risk awareness and escalation instincts.
  • Comfort operating in adynamic, fast-paced environment, including ambiguous or novel issues requiring structured problem-solving.
  • Ability to support regulator-facing work, includingexam preparation and issue responseprocesses.
  • Ability to successfully complete aconflicts of interest clearancereview prior to commencement of employment.

  • Direct experience advising onCRA, SCRA, and/or MLA(strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity withconsumer banking products and servicesand their regulatory/compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supportingregulatory examinationsand interacting with prudential regulators on consumer-related topics.
  • Experience drafting or coordinatingcomment lettersand participating in trade association or industry working groups.
  • Background partnering withGovernment Relations/Regulatory Affairson policy strategy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience building or enhancingpolicies, procedures, training, and controlstied to consumer compliance requirements.
