Job Overview

Reporting to the Factory Product Support Lead, LHD & Trucks, the Factory Product Support Specialist will serve as technical subject matter expert to support Komatsu customers & distributors in different regions of the world with underground hard rock product commissioning, product technical training, factory advanced support and technical advice and ensure that customers receive the necessary technical data for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of equipment. Furthermore, the individual will support various teams, such as engineering, sales, and product management, by contributing to the development of customer specifications, gathering customer feedback, aiding in the creation of capital equipment product priority parts listings, and reporting any environmental, health, and safety concerns, including those related to products.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participates as a key member of new product introductions to market and support commissioning of new products in collaboration with regional field support teams.
  • Provides hands-on technical training to customer and service regions on proper operation, maintenance and troubleshooting practices.
  • Creates product issues reports to report back to operations, quality, engineering and product management for product feedback.
  • Assists operations with field-testing and trials of new products and updated components to ensure proper and safe operation.
  • Provides technical support to end users, operators, and regional/dealer service personnel in cases of complex technical issues.
  • Aids in compiling accurate data to process warranty claims and engineering machine improvements.
  • Reviews spare parts recommendations and develops accuracy of Machine Life Operating Costs (MLOC).
  • Investigates warranty claims proactively and reactively to enhance customer satisfaction and provide feedback to the respective factories.
  • Performs equipment demonstrations in a safe manner.
  • Works with technical training and publications team to develop technical product training.
  • Delivers hands-on technical training to regional field support and dealers as applicable.
  • Completes accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists as applicable.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Technical certification or diploma in heavy equipment mechanic/fitter or similar.
  • Technical certification in electrical technology with certification to work on high voltage (309A and 442A).
  • 7 years extensive experience with underground mining equipment.
  • Ability to work varied shift scheduled.
  • Ability to travel globally as required, up to 50% of the time.
  • Holds a valid passport.
  • Ability to work in an underground environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Deep understanding of product operation, maintenance and troubleshooting practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Adept at providing hands-on technical training to customers and service regions.
  • Ability to complete field testing.
  • Strong customer service skills required.
  • Knowledge of Machine Life Operating Costs.
  • Solid diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative nature.

Compensation Range

At Komatsu, base pay is just one part of a comprehensive total compensation package designed to support and reward our employees.

For this role, the annual base compensation range is $42.03 to $56.87 CAD. The final offer will be determined based on several factors, including the candidates' skills, experience, qualifications, and the position location.
