Position: Facility Maintenance Lead
Location: DeKalb, IL
Schedule: Mon-Thur 6am-4:30pm to Tue-Fri 6am-4:30pm
Pay Rate: $41.10/hour
Summary DescriptionThe Facility Maintenance Lead serves as the primary point of contact for the Maintenance Department and is responsible for leading daily maintenance activities while actively performing maintenance technician duties. This role provides technical expertise, leadership, guidance, and support to maintenance team members to ensure equipment reliability, facility upkeep, and timely completion of maintenance work.
The Facility Maintenance Lead serves as the communication link between maintenance personnel and leadership, escalating equipment concerns, safety issues, staffing needs, and operational challenges when appropriate. While not typically responsible for formal disciplinary actions, this position is expected to mentor team members and help maintain a productive, collaborative work environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work safely while complying with all established safety guidelines and procedures, including Energy Isolation (Lockout/Tagout), Hand Safety, Hot Work Permits, Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Electrical Safety Work Practices, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, and other safety policies and procedures.
- Perform installation, modification, calibration, and repair of electronic and electrical instrumentation, equipment, and control systems.
- Inspect, repair, and perform electrical and mechanical overhauls on equipment including VFDs, open and closed-loop feedback servo systems, servo motors, pneumatic and hydraulic components, motor control center devices, conveyor systems, and packaging and processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair motor control centers, electro-mechanical drives, and sub-electrical panels using volt-ohm-amp meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Perform machine shop duties including grinding, drilling, light metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
- Be available for emergency call-in work when required.
- Assist in moving and installing plant equipment.
- Perform maintenance work with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Calculate line leads and determine horsepower, wattage, current, voltage, wire sizing, conduit sizing, fuse sizing, and equipment capacities.
- Install, maintain, and repair low-voltage systems including paging systems, fire alarms, and warning horns.
- Maintain and test both wet and dry sprinkler systems.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of outside contractors while working within the facility.
- Assist in developing and implementing capital projects.
- Provide leadership and oversight to assigned maintenance team members.
- Enter work orders, update work order status, and maintain the CWorks Work Order Management System.

- You can prioritize work and effectively delegate tasks.
- You have experience identifying equipment issues and determining appropriate repair solutions.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Office and maintenance software systems.
- You have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand for 8+ hours per shift.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures and humidity.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, forklifts, and industrial equipment.
- Ability to perform hands-on repairs and maintenance activities.
- Ability to regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
