Full Job Description
Position Summary

We are seeking a Facility Engineering Director to join our operations management team and lead an existing period of growth for the company. The role begins with a high-visibility initiative: outfitting and transitioning the organization into a new R&D facility, including coordination of major equipment selection and procurement, tactical interface with construction management, contractors, and architects, and detailed planning and execution of the operations move.

After a successful transition to the new facility, this role will manage all facility operations, from the spaces where our people work and the systems that keep the business running, to the ongoing projects that help us evolve. This includes sourcing and deploying future equipment, managing maintenance and construction initiatives, and serving as the primary point of contact with the building owner and local officials. It's a role that calls for someone who can plan for the long term while staying hands-on with the details that keep things running smoothly.

Responsibilities

Site Operations:

  • Oversee the structural, mechanical, electrical, acoustical and environmental integrity of our corporate offices. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations. Responsible for the overall building maintenance in coordination with owner.
  • Implement and ensure equipment maintenance programs are in place; ensure all maintenance is being completed per the maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain complete equipment, building, and infrastructure documentation including up-to-date drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and maintenance records.

Capital Equipment and Site modifications:

  • Manage capital equipment installations through suppliers and subcontracted services. Support Facilities System/Equipment Expansion projects with design review, system start-up and system commissioning. Interface with regulatory agencies and city inspectors.
  • Responsible for writing equipment project scopes of work, project drawings, updating records, and all financial aspects for the project including budgeting and processing invoices. Preparing purchase requests, ROI calculations and developing/presenting executive summaries and proposals. Preparation of bid/RFQ documents, soliciting and evaluating bids.
  • Coordinate periodic office space modifications, upgrades, construction and outfitting including contractor selection, furnishings and finishes, budgeting and project management.

Leadership:

  • Regularly collaborate with all program leaders and functional departments to ensure current and future needs are accommodated. Develop and manage annual overhead budget.
  • Manage Lab/EHS Manager and maintenance staff to ensure operational and safety processes and authorizations are in compliance, maintain calibrate equipment, tools and instruments, outfit ensure safe operations of rapid prototyping work cell. Coordinate and manage service contracts for equipment, janitorial, and groundskeeping.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in facility operations management in engineering settings
  • Possess working knowledge of TIA/EIA, IEEE, and NEC standards, codes, and regulations, as well as basic knowledge of construction practices
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Operations expertise with multiple systems and equipment types found in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. Specific operations experience in several of the following facilities areas is required:
    • Process Exhaust systems and exhaust scrubbers
    • Clean room HVAC (Makeup Air Units, recirc air fans, cooling coils, etc.)
    • Clean room architectural systems (Walls, FFUs, temperature/humidity control)
    • Chillers & Chilled water distribution systems
    • Cooling Towers
    • Bulk Gases (LN2, LH2, LO2)
    • Electrical (12.5kV & 480v distribution, transformers, UPS)
    • Life Safety Systems (VESDA, Toxic Gas monitoring, Fire Alarm systems)
    • Control systems and field instruments
    • Ultra-Pure Water System
    • High Purity Bulk Chemical Delivery systems design, operations, and maintenance
  • Experience managing maintenance and capital projects within a facilities department including scoping, budget/cost estimation, resource planning, schedule creation, and stakeholder management
  • Experience interfacing with and managing outside contractors for daily operations and maintenance across all facility and building systems
  • Ability to work in an industrial plant/facilities environment wearing the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) for hearing, chemical and fall protection, working from ladders and scaffolding, and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Self-managed and collaborative, with a demonstrated ability to build positive, effective relationships across in-house teams, functional departments, and senior management

The pay range for this role is:

175,000 - 210,000 USD per year (Boston)
