About the Role:The
Facilities Engineer provides hands-on technical support for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of a large, complex facility with aging electrical, mechanical, and building automation infrastructure. This position works closely with Facilities Operations, technicians, contractors, and project teams and reports to the RES Operations Director.
You Will:- Provide hands-on technical leadership and troubleshooting for facility electrical systems, including 480 VAC distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, ATS equipment, and other critical electrical infrastructure.
- Support and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS), including controls, networking, programming, sequences of operation, alarms, trending, and integration with mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Support mechanical and facility infrastructure, including HVAC, central plant equipment, pumps, air-handling systems, plumbing, and associated controls, with emphasis on reliability and root-cause troubleshooting.
- Lead and support facility infrastructure projects, including end-of-life equipment replacements, construction coordination, shutdown planning, drawing and submittal review, commissioning, operational acceptance, and turnover to Facilities Operations.
- Support day-to-day facility operations and compliance, including preventive maintenance, work orders, contractor oversight, internal and external audits, technical documentation, equipment lifecycle planning, and critical/data center operations.
You Have:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of technical education, trade training, and substantial field experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, commissioning, or supporting electrical and mechanical systems in large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or critical facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical systems, including 480 VAC power distribution, with demonstrated field troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), including system troubleshooting, controls, networking, sequences of operation, alarms, and trending. Automated Logic and/or Niagara experience is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting large HVAC/mechanical systems, critical facilities or data centers, infrastructure replacement projects, and aging building systems is strongly preferred.
- Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements.
