Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

As the site EHS Sr. Specialist, you will manage, lead, and coordinate all aspects of the facility's Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to support site goals and objectives. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate EHS requirements; driving continuous improvement in safety performance; leading risk reduction initiatives; supporting incident investigations and corrective actions; and promoting a proactive safety culture across the facility. The EHS Sr. Specialist will partner with operations, maintenance, leadership, and employees to identify hazards, implement effective controls, deliver training, maintain required documentation, and support environmental sustainability and regulatory reporting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and implement programs and procedures to meet facility objectives and targets in EHS. Key focus points include:
- Safety training and safety culture-building

- Incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions

- Risk assessments, job hazard analyses, ergonomics, and machine/process safety
- EHS Regulatory Compliance

- Environmental programs such as waste, air, water, chemical management, and sustainability (i.e. Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation & Recovery Act, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality)
- Energy management and use reduction
- Waste Minimization
- Coordinate all EHS training.
- Support and manage corrective actions from Corporate EHS audits.
- Onsite contact for Corporate EHS Department, and under corporate direction, manage EPA actions such as, but not limited to, NOV's, cleanups and complaints.
- Onsite contacts for Corporate EHS Department and under their direction manage OSHA actions such as, but not limited to, inspections, letters of noncompliance, informal conferences.
- Direct all applicable EHS reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Responsibility for audits, inspections, permits, reporting, and recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with Corporate EHS Policy and Directives.
- Support customer EHS requirements (i.e. IMDS).
- Develop, measure and track internal EHS metrics, plans and goals.
- Insure the training of new facility EHS Coordinators.
- Attend EHS conferences or country council meetings.
- Direct the site climate improvement program
- Coordinate all waste management programs (recycling, chemical, solid, etc.)
- Support and Integrate EHS into Lean, HR, and Supply Chain efforts.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as EHS is preferred. Associate's degree with extensive experience, completion of certificate programs, seminars and CEU's may be considered.

- 5+ years of applicable experience.
- A strong working knowledge of EHS regulations.

- Supervisory experience preferred

- Strong working knowledge of Federal and State Environmental regulations
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience in Ergonomics and Behavior Based Safety a plus.

- Experience writing safety policies and executing policy and program deployment

- Can work independently.
- Excellent communication and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Creative ability in insuring safety of employees, the environment while meeting the needs of production.
- Ability to plan and implement EHS programs.
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with management as well as associates from the floor.
