Full Job Description
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Facilities Project Inspector to support the Fire Safety and Construction Department. This department is responsible for maintaining a code-compliant environment through professional expertise, inspections, and ongoing maintenance activities that help protect patients, employees, and visitors. The Facilities Project Inspector serves as the Facilities Management representative on construction and renovation projects, ensuring installations meet applicable building codes, project specifications, and institutional standards.

The Facilities Project Inspector provides quality control and inspection expertise throughout all phases of construction to help ensure successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience performing mechanical inspections for commercial construction projects and a strong understanding of International Building Code (IBC) requirements and institutional specifications. A certification as a mechanical inspector is preferred. Education requirements were not provided.

Salary Range: Salary: Minimum $77,500 .00 - Midpoint $97,000.00 - Maximum $116,500.00
Work Location: 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the Facilities Management representative on construction and renovation projects.
• Perform mechanical trade inspections in accordance with IBC requirements and UT MD Anderson specifications.
• Verify that materials, equipment, workmanship, and installation activities comply with project specifications and contract documents.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections throughout all phases of construction, including manufacturing, shop fabrication, field fabrication, delivery, and installation.
• Inspect architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems for compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
• Ensure all mechanical construction installations follow IBC code requirements and institutional specifications.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and document inspection findings.
• Track, monitor, and follow up on non-conformance report (NCR) observations to resolution.
• Verify projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards and requirements.
• Support implementation of inspection and quality control programs that maintain a safe and code-compliant environment.

EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Sciences or other construction-related field.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of International Building Code, Texas Accessibility Standards and Life Safety.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 3 years Project management/construction management experience. or 10 years Experience in the related construction trade to include one year of supervisory experience.
    May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Preferred: EL-M - Master Electrician Upon Hire
  • Preferred: LMP - Licensed Master Plumber Upon Hire
  • Preferred: Industry-sponsored inspector certifications pertinent to the trades being inspected. Upon Hire
