About the Opportunity:The
HVAC/R & Plumbing Supervisor oversees the operation, maintenance, and optimization of building automation systems and HVAC/R equipment, ensuring effective control of heating, cooling, and plumbing infrastructure throughout Washington County facilities. This role leads and directs a team of HVAC and plumbing professionals, manages budgets and resources, and handles contract oversight for related services. The supervisor also coordinates and contributes to large-scale capital improvement projects involving the replacement and enhancement of mechanical systems.
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):- Proper methods, procedures, tools, and equipment used in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment as well as plumbing, mechanical, and electrical trades.
- Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
- Manipulate DDC systems for large facilities and systems to include: chillers, boilers, hydronic loops, air handlers, fan coils, commissioning, etc.
- Operate, repair, and maintain a variety of complex electrical/plumbing/mechanical systems and equipment including heating ventilation, and air conditioning systems, air compressors, security alarm systems, switches, lighting systems, security systems, and fire alarm equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches to problems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Utilize various software and computerized tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma/GED; AND Four (4) years of journey-level experience as an HVAC and/or DDC/BAS technician and which include a minimum of two (2) years lead or supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal).
- Some positions may be required to possess a valid driver's and have an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
- Must pass a WCSO criminal Background check and maintain access to all spaces.
- May be required to report to work during off-duty hours for emergency situations.
About the Department/Division:Washington County Facilities, Fleet, & Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of approximately 38 owned and leased sites encompassing 1.9 million sq ft of commercial type building environments.
