Job Description

Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Facilities Manager - Dining and Night Team to join their team.

About this Opportunity

This position ensures that HFS dining facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained by coordinating preventative maintenance, custodial, and renewal work across all HFS dining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Dining Facilities and Maintenance Management – 40%

  • Manage preventive maintenance and equipment tracking in dining spaces.
  • Coordinate UW Facilities and outside contractors; negotiate scope and cost of work orders.
  • Oversee interior renewal projects for timeline, budget, and quality.
  • Participate in annual facility audits and maintain capital expense records.

Custodial Operations – 40%

  • Ensure adherence to cleaning standards and support the HFS quality assurance program.
  • Develop staffing plans, oversee recruitment, and conduct annual time studies.
  • Maintain a custodial training program covering orientation, safety, and cleaning methods.
  • Manage the custodial annual budget including forecasting and expenditure monitoring.

Leadership and Supervision – 20%

  • Supervise two Custodial Supervisors with indirect oversight of up to 21 FTE.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation for custodial staff.
  • Drive program improvements and ensure compliance with HFS and University policies.

Reports to the Associate Director, Facilities Services

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience in facilities project management and / or custodial operations management
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance or facility operations
  • Ability to develop cost estimates and schedules
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive customer service orientation
  • Ability to function as a leader and a team member

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with commercial food service equipment
  • Experience tracking and reporting on complex budgets

Working Conditions

  • Assigned to a Monday - Friday day shift with occasional weekend and evening work to address emergencies and participate in Department-wide events.  Up to 2 days per week of remote work may be approved. 
  • This position offers scheduling flexibility, with some evening hours expected to support night operations staff.

$99,240.00 annual
