The Facilities Manager leads the Planning Organization responsible for the end‑to‑end planning process of the Melbourne site. The role ensures that workspace, program requirements, and long‑range site strategies are aligned with business objectives, stakeholder needs, and regulatory standards. The incumbent will direct the development and upkeep of seating layouts, configuration drawings, as‑built documentation, and the site master plan while providing strategic input to the organization’s long‑range planning efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning Process Leadership:

    Own the planning lifecycle for the Melbourne site – from concept through implementation and post‑occupancy evaluation. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve standardized planning procedures, tools, and templates

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with programs, functions and other teams to capture program requirements and translate them into optimal space solutions. Facilitate workshops and design charrettes to validate location decisions and gather feedback​

  • Space Management & Documentation: Oversee the creation, updating, and governance of seating layouts, configuration data, and as‑built drawings. Ensure Archibus system reflects current space allocations, moves, adds, and changes

  • Master Plan Management: Maintain the site master plan, incorporating new projects, renovations, and future growth scenarios. Conduct periodic gap analyses against the master plan and recommend corrective actions

  • Strategic Planning Contribution: Provide data‑driven insights and space forecasts to support the organization’s long‑range strategic plan. Model various “what‑if” scenarios (e.g., headcount changes, hybrid‑work adoption) to guide future facility investments

  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for space utilization, occupancy cost, and planning cycle timelines. Produce regular dashboards and executive reports on planning status, risks, and opportunities

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all planning activities meet local building codes, fire safety regulations, and corporate sustainability policies. Manage permits and approvals for re‑configurations and new construction

  • Team Development:

    Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary planning team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Must either have a bachelor’s degree and 9 years of facility related experience or; a master’s degree and 7 years of facility related experience or a PhD and 5 years of facility related experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

  • Must have at least 3 Years of experience successfully managing and leading teams which includes ability to lead and manage teams effectively, fostering collaboration and achieving organizational objectives

  • Experience overseeing and guiding master planning and space planning projects from inception to completion

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secret Clearance

  • Active Special Access Program (SAP)

  • Experience with Archibus or similar CAFM System

Primary Level Salary Range: $104,600.00 - $156,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
