Job Description:

Caterpillar is seeking a Facility Engineer (Planning/ Scheduler) in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will support the planning and scheduling of the improvement projects for the Sanford NC Facilities.

What you can look forward to in this role:
  • Monitor Radio and CMMS for incoming breakdown and repair requests
  • Direct and ensure all Preventative Maintenance tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining CMMS system, like adding new machines, new users, PM's, coordinating training and any other additional tasks.
  • Responsible for providing the Maintenance and Team Leaders with the monthly CPS data and other metrics generated from the CMMS system.
  • Act as the machine documentation manager for all current and future machines at the facility and maintain the current documentation in paper and electronic form.
  • Act as liaison between facility management, the maintenance group, purchasing, and crib personnel.
  • Will manage maintenance spare parts inventory
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain maintenance spare parts and will follow the procurement process.
  • This is a unique role that will require work hours that vary from a typical schedule. There will be times when the successful candidate will be required to support activities and installations during weekends, holidays, and plant shutdowns.


A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
  • Plant Facilities Management: Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.


Top Candidates for this position may also have:
  • Minimum 2 yrs of experience in maintenance or related education such as manufacturing engineering, HVAC, industrial maintenance
  • Use of AutoCAD 2D modeling for floor plans
  • Experience working in a mechanical and fabrication-focused environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Experience in inventory management
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and/or Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to move projects forward
  • Experience with creating and implementing standard work
  • Avetta compliance knowledgeable
  • NextGen, Guided Buy knowledge
  • RFI Completion

  • The primary location for this position is in Sanford, NC.

  • Caterpillar will provide a cash sign-on bonus to selected candidates who apply by 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, July 19 in the amount of $1500, less applicable withholdings and taxes, to be paid as soon as administratively practical upon completion of your first day of employment.


Summary Pay Range:

$81,370.00 - $122,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
