Full Job Description
Here's the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Facilities Electrical Engineer - System Owner to join the Facilities team at our location in Marcy, NY. This is a state-of-the-art Silicone Carbide Fabrication Facility. This person will oversee the installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems of up to 34.5KV. You will work with colleagues at other Wolfspeed facilities, our global engineering team, as well as the site electrician team to develop and implement standards for electrical system operation and maintenance. This will include system SOPs, PM programs, site electrical models, and coordination of system protection and control system hardware.

The Day-to-Day
  • Provide assistance and guidance to multiple electrical contractors to perform necessary work to achieve electrical studies, implementation of remedy recommendations, incident investigations, and corrective actions
  • Advise plant in the recommendations for changes in existing power distribution systems to meet manufacturing needs and Interact with external Electrical Engineering Consulting Team
  • Provide expertise and guidance on all electrical studies, including short circuit analysis, arc-flash analysis, and over duty equipment analysis
  • Lead the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) evolutions and assist in executive corrective actions for electrical issues impacting site operations.
  • Coordinate site managers and/or personnel to address all essential electrical issues to increase safety and reliability of electrical sources
  • Develop best practice and standards in the area of electrical distribution, electrical equipment maintenance, and automation of electrical equipment and information
  • Provide experience on working with complex switching and load balancing operations on high voltage substation switchgear
  • Work with professionals within and outside the department to develop design criteria, project scopes, schedules, and funding requests to successfully define and deliver projects.
  • Prepare funding estimates, establish budgets, control costs of the electrical distribution system.


This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of prior work experience as an Electrical Engineer in a high voltage environment
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and Electrical Safety in the workplace, Electrical Area Classification, Electrical Corporate Engineering and Maintenance Standards, Guidelines and Procedures
  • Knowledge and experience with transformers, switchgear, Motor Control Centers, protective relaying, motors, motor starters, fuses, O/L, AC drives, grounding, uninterruptible power supplies, batteries and chargers, emergency generators, and cables
  • Ability to apply electrical theory and related knowledge in the design, testing, and trouble-shooting of operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in a large manufacturing plant
  • Ability to read and interpret one-lines and control schematics

The posted salary range is what Wolfspeed reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay for a hired applicant will be determined based on the individual's job-relevant qualifications, experience, and other determinative factors. In the event it is determined that a different job level upon hire is warranted then that range will be communicated to the hired applicant as soon as reasonably practicable.

Compensation Range:

$81,000.00 - $111,000.00
