Description

THE SR. SYSTEMS ENGINEER, F-16 AIRCRAFT MODIFICATIONS REQUIRES TECHNICAL PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING EXPERTISE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
  • Acquisition - documents and strategy
  • Technical program management
  • Engineering program oversight
  • Systems engineering USAF acquisition milestone reviews and associated entry/exit criteria
  • Systems design - to include baseline requirements
  • Avionics integration, ground and flight test
  • Planning/carrying out assignments for projects regarding systems integration which entail a variety of complicating factors, interaction with other engineering specializations, and consideration of the lifecycle of items/systems
  • Work with Government Programs Managers on Integrated Master Schedules
  • Interaction with other Contractors, Vendors, SPO's and Senior Military/Civilian personnel

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Systems Engineer will assist in translating user technical and mission requirements into systems-level requirements and acquisition documents which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test, evaluate, produce, install, and operationally verify F-16 upgrade and modification performance
  • Systems Engineer will also assist with program execution, participate in source selection, review system and engineering documents, specifications, and technical reports, perform technological and trade-off study assessments of proposed designs, engineering designs, aircraft integration designs, and modifications and provide recommendations
  • Systems Engineer will act as a liaison between NGB/A5 and the F-16 SPO program management/engineering team
  • Systems Engineer will lead the technical team of government and contractors to meet acquisition milestones, requirement, and reviews
  • Systems Engineer will be required to brief program status, risks, and design reviews to USAF leadership, stakeholders and/or users

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge and experience in Operational Safety Suitability & Effectiveness (OSS&E) and AF Airworthiness Processes with Airworthiness certification
  • Experience utilizing AFI 62-601, Developmental Engineering USAF Airworthiness, and MIL-HDBK-516C (expanded), Airworthiness Certification Criteria as reference documents in order to perform work
  • Familiarization utilizing AFI 63-101/20-101 and AFI 99-130 for USAF program and test management
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with systems engineering design in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment
  • Experience planning and carrying out assignments for projects concerning Electromagnetic Computer Software Systems, which entail a variety of complicating factors, interaction with other engineering specializations, and consideration of the lifecycle of items/systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum Engineering degree from an accredited University, 15 years of experience and 5 years of DoD experience
  • Technical knowledge of F-16 aircraft in avionics systems, datalinks, and sensors

SECURITY CLEARANCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have a minimum of an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be eligible for a Top Secret/SCI
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Must have the ability to pass a background check to be granted access to the specific working location installation bases to perform work for GMRE

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

TRAVEL REQUIRED
  • Position will travel up to 25% of the time out of state and overnight to fulfill contract requirements.
