Extrusion Department Manager

Position Overview

Join a company where innovation and operational excellence are at the core of everything we do. Shaw Industries is searching for an Extrusion Department Manager who can optimize production, elevate quality standards, and champion a culture of safety and accountability.

Essential Duties (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility):
  • Comply with Procedures found in SMS Manual.
  • Perform all job duties using safe work methods. Comply with corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy.
  • Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
  • Directly supervise Process Engineers, Shift Supervisors in the Extrusion Department.
  • Contribute to the Performance and Results of the following: Safety performance, Quality Performance and Results, Productivity and Performance, People Performance, Technical Performance and Results.
  • Motivates supervisors to ensure consistent, equal and fair treatment of their employees.
  • Maintain updated performance metrics within department Develop/manage/monitor Extrusion house keeping, quality, productivity, facility grounds and department safety Monitor trials and SYR's in the Extrusion and supporting Departments.
  • Keep Supervisors focused on making sure machinery is running within SPC and Product specifications.
  • Meet daily with Shift Supervisors to keep them informed of new information concerning Extrusion Department.
  • Keep support groups focused on providing support to the Extrusion Department as needed through work orders, memos, and verbal communication.
  • Attend meetings concerning department or plant matters as needed. Manage departmental employee's concerns and issues. Must comply with contractor safety program.
  • Maintain Product Mix Schedule.
  • Remain accountable for the Department Equipment Reliability Performance via utilizing TPM and Lean.
  • Maintain favorable and effective relations among employees. Establish Documented Job Assignment Protocol.
  • Maintain fair and balanced accountability to the expectations of the departments' objectives.

Educational Requirements:
  • Must have (4) year College Degree.
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience in manufacturing leadership or equivalent.
