Full Job Description
The role: The Exploration Superintendent reports to the Operations Manager and the primary role is to manage a safe, effective, and efficient exploration program with the objective to increase mineral resources on projects suitable to support, grow, and de-risk the life of asset plans, through high-quality geology, accurate geological modeling, cost management, and strategic prioritization. The specifics: Provide leadership and guidance to the Discovery team including ensuring all team members have clearly defined roles, accountabilities and individual development plans. Provide feedback on performance and conduct formal performance reviews Complete quarterly career development conversations with senior geologists. Ensure senior geologists are completing their conversations. Coach all geologists in best practice geological, safety and environmental protocols. Assign appropriate actions to the team to execute the work that supports the corporate plan. Assess, communicate and contribute to The assessment of opportunities to improve the discovery rate or bring forward development of resources, including those on non-NSR tenements, The creation of geology and estimation models to identify gaps in knowledge or data and implement actions to address risks. Physical and cost tracking on a monthly basis. Independently deliver a budget across multiple projects that is achievable and aligns to the corporate strategy and LOA plans. Develop drill schedules and milestone calendars and adjust as necessary. Communicate variances and risks to plan appropriately. Work with other departments including mining engineering, geotechnical engineering and metallurgy to ensure all upcoming projects in the LOA are derisked and ready for progression to resource development. Manage contractors and suppliers engaged in exploration activities on the project area. Complete and present periodic reports in both PowerPoint and word document format as per department, corporate and statutory requirements. Evaluate, optimise and implement change and or improvements to all geological processes as appropriate. Review information for JORC reporting including Table 1 and providing significant intercepts. Ensure all tenements are maintained and kept in good standing through effective budgeting. Coordinate images for ASX releases and assist discovery geologists with the generation of images for company releases. Qualifications Required: Degree majoring in Geology, preferably with Honours, from a recognised tertiary institution. Current Driver's License. Desired Experience & Competencies: Minimum 10 years' geological experience in the mining industry in both green fields and nearmine exploration environment - majority must be in gold and at least 6 years in supervisory capacity. Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Geological Software (Leapfrog, Datamine, Arc GIS). Good communication skills and ability to work in a team. Orebody interpretation skills and resource skills Exposure to resource modelling and estimation. Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks. Ability to lead team to adapt to new technology, improved processes and practices. First Aid Certificate (desireable) Awareness of MSHA Inspection Act & Regulations The Details: Working 15 days on and 13 days off rotating schedule up to 12.0 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area. Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, great Wi-Fi & cable TV. Cell service is available through Wi-Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction, and Tok, Alaska. Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
