The salary range for this position is:
• Recruitment range: $69,872 to $77,030.
Starting salary is determined in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.
Performance range: Up to $90,849. Progression beyond the recruitment range is available through annual performance increases, in accordance with the PEA Collective Agreement.

Job Summary

Mandate:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Experiential Learning and working closely with Gustavson's academic programs, the Experiential Learning Advisor supports the team-based learning and teaching approach at Gustavson. We strive to enrich students' educational journeys by creating meaningful, diverse hands-on learning experiences that cultivate essential skills, inspire lifelong learning, and nurture socially conscious leaders. The Experiential Learning Advisor collaborates with program staff and faculty to provide students with the theoretical and practical skills to understand team dynamics and development, give and receive feedback, manage difficult conversations, and develop socially responsible leadership skills in diverse team environments.

Objectives:
  • Facilitate effective student team collaboration and success through the delivery of teamwork training, experiential activities inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Develop students' leadership and teamwork skills in alignment with each program's learning objectives.
  • Coach students and teams in their personal growth, academic success and readiness for professional life.
  • Collaborate with the Experiential Learning Manager and other program team members to contribute to developing a School wide teamwork framework, processes, and tools.


Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree plus a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
  • Coaching training (ICF Certification an asset).
  • Workshop and applied learning facilitation experience.
  • Strong understanding of teamwork framework and expertise in team coaching.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with situations that require intervention.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others, strong commitment and passion to enhance the student experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in person and online.
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to champion innovation and new processes.
  • Sensitivity to student mental health, learning needs and wellness.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and active listening skills.

Assets or Preferences
  • Previous experience in facilitating experiential learning activities.
  • Previous experience in a post-secondary environment an asset.
  • Experience in coaching teams.
