RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participates in Service engineering projects, including planning and completing assigned tasks on time and with high quality.
  • Leads Service investigations, develops plans, and executes tasks to resolve process issues, including Nonconformances (NC), complaint investigations, audit observations, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Monitors post-launch service performance, analyzing results to identify root causes of issues and implementing necessary product or service improvements.
  • Supports hardware and software design changes throughout the product lifecycle to ensure ongoing serviceability and effectiveness.
  • Provides daily support and guidance to production and Service.
  • Drives quality and serviceability improvements using Process Excellence tools to resolve complex operational issues and enhance service offerings.
  • Understands existing processes, tooling setup, and machine programs to perform tasks related to process validation (Installation Qualification, Operation Qualification, Performance Qualification, Computer Software Validation, and Test Method Validation) and engineering studies.
  • Leads process improvements in Service systems by applying appropriate engineering principles and standard strategies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Leads gage design, measurement system analysis, and gage implementation as needed. Can operate various measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, comparators, tensile testers, and coordinate measurement systems to support engineering testing.
  • Develops fixtures and designs tools and can effectively communicate and work with tool designers.
  • Leads acquisition of new equipment, including user requirements specifications, machine selection, installation, validation, employee training, and other related equipment responsibilities as needed.
  • Reviews complex layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.
  • Writes protocols and reports.
  • Participates in and leads designed experiments and capability studies as support staff, collects and maintains documents, and records process specifications.
  • Performs programming, setup, and troubleshooting of complex equipment or measuring instruments.
  • Gathers process documentation, and conducts training on processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Contributes to the creation of Service and inspection procedures.
  • Participates in and leads cross-functional teams, which may include but are not limited to
  • Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, Finance, Product Development, and personnel from other sites.
  • Ensures compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and other safety precautions in the work area.
  • Train lower-level Service personnel
  • Assist lower-level Service personnel in diagnosing and resolving technical problems
  • Serves as a model for operators in attitude, machine operation, process adherence, and decision-making.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level.
  • Responsible for adhering to all Company guidelines related to health, safety, and environmental practices as applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills:
  • Min. 4 years of experience in Service and/or manufacturing is required.
  • Demonstrates troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including confidence, transparency, integrity, innovation, passion, patience, and tenacity.
  • Demonstrates strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, CREO, Minitab, and databases.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and is results-oriented.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and professional interactions with coworkers undefined.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience working in a regulated industry, such as Medical Devices, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Design for Serviceability principles, is preferred
  • Experience in documenting and writing formal technical procedures, risk management files and other engineering reports, is preferred
  • Lean Sigma experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of machine and electrical safety standards, preferred.

  • Interpersonal skills / characteristics .
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially when describing technical concepts to Engineering, Quality, and senior management.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication, both with local and international peers.
  • Highly recognized by peers as an experienced and professional engineer. Must be able to work independently, provide multiple solutions to problems, and make systems work together.

  • Must be willing to support global projects and to travel.
  • Must be willing to support 2nd and 3rd shifts.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt and Lean certifications preferred.
  • FPx and/or Project Management certifications preferred
