Position Overview

As an Experience Design Manager Senior in PNC’s Digital organization, you can be located in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, Orlando, FL, or Raleigh, NC. In this role, you'll lead a team responsible for designing the future of how employees work across complex operational processes and workflows. Partnering with business, product, technology, and design leaders, you’ll help shape a large-scale platform modernization effort that brings together experiences, tools, and processes into a more unified ecosystem.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about systems thinking, process design, and organizational impact. This role goes beyond delivering individual products or screens. You’ll guide the creation of connected experiences that reduce complexity, improve operational efficiency, and establish a vision for how work gets done across the enterprise. At the same time, you’ll develop and coach designers, helping them grow their skills, expand their influence, and advance their careers.

You’ll work across these human-centered design practices:

-User experience research and testing
-Process and workflow design
-Interaction and user experience design
-Service design and systems thinking
-Design systems and experience standards
-Prototyping and concept validation


In this role, you will: 

-Lead, coach, and develop a team of designers, fostering growth, engagement, and design excellence.
-Set design vision and strategy across a suite of products, workflows, and platforms.
-Drive the transformation of complex operational experiences through process design, systems thinking, and workflow architecture.
-Partner with business, product, and technology leaders to align priorities and deliver meaningful outcomes.
-Establish and scale experience patterns, standards, and design system adoption across teams.
-Create alignment across initiatives to ensure connected, consistent, and efficient user experiences.
-Leverage research, insights, and data to inform strategy and decision-making.
-Communicate design direction and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
-Ensure high-quality design execution across multiple teams, products, and initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:

-Experience leading and developing teams of experience designers, product designers, or UX professionals
-Experience designing complex enterprise, operations, workflow, or employee-facing platforms
-Demonstrated success driving cross-functional initiatives across business, product, technology, and design organizations
-Experience establishing or scaling design systems, experience standards, and governance models
-Strong portfolio demonstrating leadership of large-scale end-to-end experience initiatives
-Experience working with the Figma suite of design tools
-Experience supporting design initiatives within Agile development environments
-Knowledge and experience in the financial services industry is desired but not required

Job Description
  • Lead Experience Design team in creating digital experiences across a range of user touchpoints. Drive partnerships across the enterprise with product management, design, and technology, in developing strategies in delivering engaging, usable, consistent, and accessible experiences aligned with business objectives, cohesive with all of PNC’s digital properties.
  • Establish and refine operations processes for team. Guide the team’s maturity in establishing design practices, including cultivating a culture of critique and informing the design process through regular research.
  • Partners with product & technology peers, as well as design leaders on the individual customer experience. Lead design function in agile development crews and practice human-centered design across the domains of visual and communication design, interaction and user experience design, prototyping, and design research.
  • Lead partnership with product management and technology leadership to set vision for the customer experience for a particular feature area, product, etc. Guide product strategy to ensure it is meeting customer needs.
  • Assess digital experience trends and results in order to recommend new digital experiences or enhancements to existing experiences by leveraging industry and market place research and insights.
  • Develop and mentor designers. Drive design leaders to improve the community of practice for all design teams.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $123,200.00 – $251,680.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
