Job Description

Under the general direction of the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Executive Director is accountable for the successful leadership and management of the Northwest Family Branch and Camp Northpoint. The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality programs, strong financial performance, effective staff leadership, excellent facilities, community engagement, and continued growth.

The Executive Director is responsible for revenue growth, fiscal management, financial development, facility oversight, staff recruitment and development, program quality, and overall branch operations. This position also provides leadership and oversight for Camp Northpoint, ensuring a safe, engaging, high-quality camp experience.

The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies and ensuring the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester are reflected throughout the Northwest Family Branch, Camp Northpoint, and the communities they serve.

Qualifications

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of YMCA experience or equivalent nonprofit, community-based, or related management experience.
• At least five years of supervisory experience with demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, supervising, and retaining staff.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple programs, facilities, and operational priorities.
• Must be a self-motivated, hands-on leader with strong communication, networking, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality programming, member service, camp operations, safety, and facility standards.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in driving revenue, managing expenses, developing budgets, and achieving financial goals.
• Experience in fundraising, Annual Campaign leadership, and individual donor cultivation and solicitation.
• Experience working with volunteers, community partners, and boards or committees preferred.
• Knowledge of applicable New York State, OCFS, Department of Health, and other regulatory requirements related to assigned programs and camp operations.
• Must possess and maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, and move throughout branch and camp facilities frequently.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including regular presence at Camp North Point during camp operations.
• Must be able to navigate varied outdoor terrain associated with camp operations.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to fifteen pounds.
• Must be able to respond appropriately during emergency situations and participate in emergency procedures as required.

Essential Functions
• Provide overall leadership and accountability for the Northwest Family Branch and Camp Northpoint, ensuring operations align with the mission, strategic priorities, policies, and standards of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.
• Provide leadership and oversight for Camp Northpoint, ensuring a safe, high-quality, engaging, and mission-driven camp experience for campers and families.
• Ensure Camp Northpoint maintains compliance with all applicable YMCA, New York State, Department of Health, OCFS, and other regulatory requirements.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff within the Executive Director's area of responsibility. Provide leadership, coaching, and support to department leaders and camp leadership.
• Build a strong staff culture focused on accountability, teamwork, professional development, employee engagement, and exceptional service.
• Serve as a senior point of contact for members, parents, participants, and families when concerns require Executive Director involvement and ensure concerns are addressed appropriately and timely.
• Ensure programs and services across the Northwest Family Branch and Camp Northpoint are safe, welcoming, relevant, and responsive to community needs.
• Develop and manage annual operating budgets for areas of responsibility. Monitor revenue and expenses, maintain a strong fiscal position, and ensure responsible allocation of resources.
• Lead the branch's Annual Campaign and other financial development efforts, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and volunteer engagement.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase membership, program participation, camp enrollment, revenue, and overall community impact.
• Provide oversight of the appearance, safety, maintenance, grounds, equipment, and overall condition of the Northwest Family Branch and Camp Northpoint facilities.
• Partner with appropriate Association departments to identify and address facility needs, capital priorities, risk management concerns, and long-term improvements.
• Ensure all programs and services operate in accordance with Association policies, YMCA standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Ensure operational procedures are consistently followed, including those related to safety, emergency response, incident reporting, youth protection, purchasing, personnel, financial controls, and facility management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, schools, government agencies, businesses, corporations, donors, and other partners to expand the YMCA's reach and impact.
• Identify opportunities for new programs, partnerships, and services that respond to the needs of the Northwest community and families served by Camp Northpoint.
• Work collaboratively with Branch Board members and volunteers. Lead and participate in Branch Board and committee meetings as required.
• Maintain all required certifications and ensure appropriate staff certifications and regulatory requirements are maintained.
• Attend all required Association meetings, trainings, and leadership activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of branch operations and the YMCA mission.
