Position Description:

Reporting to the Chief District Affairs Officer, the Executive Director of ASA and Compliance Officer is responsible for successfully coordinating the implementation of the Consent Judgment of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015, the admissions to and retention of students accepted into the advanced studies academies and magnet programs, facilitating parental concerns and complaints, in collaboration with school principals, as such complaints are submitted to the Compliance Office, and implementing Title IX procedures and protocols when potential Title IX incidents are reported. Consent Judgment of March 2008, facilitating parent complaints with the collaboration of school principals.

Reports To: Chief District Affairs Officer

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Represents the District at various meetings, conferences, events, as needed and appropriate.
  • Periodic review at intervals requested by the Dandridge Task Force of student assignment zones.
  • Coordination and collaboration of supervision of implementation of magnet programs, professional development for administration and designated faculty and staff of politics, procedures and protocols of magnet programs;
  • Coordination of recruitment of magnet transfer and home attendance zone students for participation in magnet programs.
  • Coordination and supervision of academic ROTC transfers.
  • Coordination and supervision of senior elections for students wishing to complete their senior year at high schools of current year assignment who otherwise would be assigned to attend another high school during their senior year.
  • Coordination and supervision of student transfers necessitated by extraordinary & special education extraordinary circumstances.
  • Coordination of state school choice, Act 853 Choice.
  • Coordination and collaboration of minority eligibility and recruitment for participation in gifted programs and advanced courses.
  • Coordination and collaboration of Advanced Placement programs and review all academic programming at all grade levels to assure such programs do not duplicate magnet or gifted course offerings.
  • Coordination and collaboration with Executive Director of Special Programs to address student discipline.
  • Coordination and collaboration with school principals to address student attendance.
  • Coordination of duties delegated by the Superintendent of schools in areas involving Dandridge and related matters of compliance with requirements of the Consent Judgment of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015.
  • Coordination of duties delegated by the Superintendent of schools in area of resource allocations.
  • Coordination and oversight of work in the area of compiling a comprehensive assessment of facilities and the development of comparability plan to address facilities needs of historically black schools.
  • Coordination and oversight of work on facilities designated to house magnet programs.
  • Coordination and supervision of remedial programs for racially identifiable black schools.
  • Coordination and collaboration of parental and community involvement program.
  • Coordination and supervision of the school district's harassment and/or intimidation program and designation as the school district's district-wide program coordinator for complaints of harassment and/or intimidation.
  • Coordination and supervision of the school district's drop-out intervention program.
  • Membership on the Dandridge Task Force and participation with members thereof as provided for in the Consent Judgment of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015.
  • Coordination and collaboration of administrator, faculty and non-instructional training programs, and collaboration with personnel of the Intercultural Development Research Association, or the entity or Unit facilitating diversity training.
  • Collaboration with the Dandridge Task Force.
  • Supervision and oversight of the school district's Hinds County Report and collaboration with the school Dandridge Task Force in the preparation of necessary reports.
  • Supervision and oversight of informational disseminations of school board policies adopted in conformity with the Consent Judgment of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015. Performance of such duties as may be delegated by the superintendent of schools in connection with the review of existing policies of the school district, proposed revisions of the same, and proposed revisions to staff and student handbooks.
  • Collaboration with the Superintendent of schools, the Chief of District Affairs Officer, other members of the Superintendent's Cabinet, Executive Directors of School Support whose duties affect implementation of the Consent Judgment of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015 and supervision and direction of principals, other school-based administrators, faculty members and non-instructional support staff personnel in all areas of responsibility affecting the successful and continued implementation of the said Consent Judgment.
  • Acquisition of thirty-six (36) Continuing Learning Units (CLUs) per year (July 1 through June 30), including ten (10) Leadership points.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as may from time-to-time be delegated by the Superintendent of schools or assigned by policies of the school board in connection with the implementation of aspects of the Consent Judgement of March, 2008, the expectations of the "Final Settlement Agreement" in the Dandridge Desegregation Order of August 2, 2011 and the complaint settlement finalized on December 9, 2015.
  • Facilitation of meetings with parents submitting Bullying Report Forms through Compliance.
  • Facilitation, Collaborate and assist parents, principals and Executive Directors of School Support in addressing and resolving parental complaints.
  • Coordination, facilitation, collaboration with the Executive Director of Human Resources, the respective principal and the Executive Directors of School Support on behalf of parents submitting complaints regarding allegations of Impermissible Corporal Punishment.
  • Coordination and facilitation of parent/guardian requests for admissions from an alternative setting.
  • Facilitate, Collaborate and assist parents, principals and Executive Directors of School Support in addressing and resolving allegations of bullying.
  • Supervision and coordination of implementation of programs related to Admissions of Advanced Studies Academies.
  • Supervision and coordination of implementation of programs related to Ruppel Académie Francaise.
  • Supervision, preparation, facilitation and implementation of Appeals processes for Advanced Studies Academies, Magnet Programs and Ruppel Académie Francaise.
  • Supervision, preparation, facilitation and implementation of Appeals process for Extraordinary Circumstance Transfer Requests and Special Education Extraordinary Circumstance Transfer Request.
  • Supervision of and Collaboration with the Coordinator of ASA Admissions and Magnet Programs.
  • Supervision of Compliance Administrative Assistants in addressing parental concerns, complaints and overall duties.
  • Supervision, preparation, implementation, and decision making on request for Enrollment Interruption at Advanced Studies Academies and Magnet Programs.
  • Collaboration and assist school registrars with registration processes, procedures and protocols.
  • Facilitation of addressing parental concerns during registration process as it pertains to custody.
  • Collaborate with Homeless/Foster Care/Neglected & Delinquent Coordinator and the Homeless Case Manager on registration of students under McKinney-Vento.
  • Facilitate, Collaborate and assist principals in addressing and resolving parental complaints.
  • Serve as District Title IX Coordinator
  • Coordination with principals of the implementation of Notices to Complainants and Respondents upon information of a potential Title IX incidents regarding policies, procedures, and implementation of supportive measures.
  • Coordination and facilitation of conversations with parents/guardians of potential complainants and respondents involved in a potential Title IX incidents regarding the Voluntary Resolution Process.
  • Coordination and collaboration with parents/guardians of potential complainants and respondents involved in a possible Title IX incident regarding the submission of a Title IX formal complaint.
  • Coordination, collaboration and facilitation of investigator reports derived from an assigned Title IX investigation for submission to Title IX Decision Maker(s) pertinent to the specific Title IX incident.
  • Coordination, collaboration, facilitation and dissemination of Title IX Decision Maker(s) final report to parents/guardians of complainants and respondents.
  • Coordination, collaboration, and facilitation of Title IX appeals submitted by parents/guardians of or on behalf of complainants and respondents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief District Affairs Officer.
