Executive Director, Asset Strategy Lead and Clinical Lead, Early Development

The Role:

The Asset Strategy Lead (ASL), Early Development provides leadership to a cross-functional strategic asset team and leads the development and execution of the asset strategy. Further, the ASL champions the product/brand at all levels of Syndax and is responsible for managing the alignment on communication on all Asset Strategy Team (AST) matters, as appropriate.

We are seeking an Executive Director, Asset StrategyLead for our recently announced Next Generation Menin Program. During the early stages of development, the role will also assume the responsibility of clinical lead for the program. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated record of strategic leadership and operational excellence in global oncology product development, with experience leading early-stage programs through pre-IND activities through pivotal studies, and potentially regulatory approval and commercialization.

This role will be a key member of the Syndax senior leadership team, influencing portfolio strategy and execution. The ideal candidate will lead the asset with a long-term enterprise view, integrating scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial, and financial perspectives to optimize asset value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own end-to-end leadership of the asset strategy, from early development through regulatory filings, approval, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive the strategic direction of the program in alignment with corporate objectives, balancing scientific innovation, clinical value, and commercial opportunity.
  • Identifies potential issues and leads contingency planning; leads AST problem solving and applies decision-making tools and techniques. Drives AST to make effective and efficient decisions.
  • Serve as a key liaison to the Executive Leadership Team, providing updates, insights, and recommendations that inform enterprise decisions.
  • Lead long-range planning, including scenario planning, investment strategy, and external innovation assessments related to the asset.
  • Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Development to shape Target Product Profile (TPP) and ensure robust lifecycle and global expansion planning.
  • Leads resolution of conflict at the AST and oversees governance engagement, ensuring timely and transparent communication on key decisions, risks, budgets, and timelines.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence, modeling strong leadership and collaborative behaviors.
  • Represent Syndax in strategic partnerships, collaborations, and scientific/medical forums as appropriate.


Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:
  • Educational Requirements: Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, or business (e.g., PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 or more years of experience in leading clinical development programs in oncology is required.
  • Equivalent experience in a leadership role as a part of a research-driven pharmaceutical company is required.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading global cross-functional teams through IND, early development and pivotal studies; experience with BLA/NDA and launch phases is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of oncology product development, regulatory environments, and commercialization strategies.
  • Strong strategic acumen with the ability to anticipate market dynamics and influence enterprise-level decisions.
  • Prior experience interacting with C-suite executives, external partners, and regulators.
  • Highly collaborative, with strong influencing skills and ability to work across multiple levels and functions.
  • Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior and external audiences.
  • Experience with portfolio management, financial modeling, and program valuation is highly desirable.


Location: Syndax's corporate office is in New York, NY.

Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $370,000 - $400,000.
