Role Overview & Key Functions:

The Executive Corporate Account Director (Executive CAD), US Payers is a senior market access leader responsible for developing and executing enterprise-level strategies to optimize patient access to Karyopharm products across National Payers, including Commercial and Government accounts, key Regional Payers, Pathway Companies, and targeted Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).

 

The Executive CAD develops a broad and deep understanding of customer business models, priorities, challenges, and evolving market dynamics to identify opportunities that create mutual business-to-business value and secure sustainable, profitable patient access. This individual serves as a recognized subject matter expert and strategic partner to key external customers and provides leadership and influence across Karyopharm’s Market Access, Commercial and cross-functional organizations.

 

The Executive CAD will play a critical role in current and future product strategy, including launch planning, payer access strategy, contracting, pricing and reimbursement, and the identification of emerging access opportunities. This role is expected to influence senior leadership, translate market insights into enterprise strategy, and serve as a leader, advisor and mentor across the organization.

This role reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Accounts.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead strategic account plans for assigned National Commercial and Government Payers, key Regional Payers, Pathway Companies, IDNs and other emerging customers of strategic importance.
  • Develop a broad and deep understanding of customers’ business models, objectives, priorities, decision-making processes and access challenges to identify opportunities that create mutual business-to-business value.
  • Develop and execute strategies to secure, optimize and maintain appropriate and profitable patient access across assigned accounts.
  • Serve as a strategic oncology market access partner to customers and internal stakeholders on access, affordability, pricing, reimbursement, payer policy and evolving healthcare market dynamics.
  • Lead the development and execution of contract strategies for assigned customers, partnering with Market Access leadership and other internal stakeholders on pricing, contracting and broader market access business decisions.
  • Negotiate complex contracts in alignment with corporate objectives, financial parameters and the strategic significance of assigned accounts.
  • Provide strategic input into national payer and market access strategy, leveraging customer insights, competitive intelligence and evolving marketplace trends to influence business decisions.
  • Influence senior and executive leadership by identifying emerging risks and opportunities and recommending strategies or organizational changes necessary to drive results.
  • Partner with Market Access leadership, Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, HEOR and other functions to translate high-level strategy into actionable payer and account-specific plans.
  • Provide market access leadership for new product and indication launches, including development of payer value strategies, access plans and tactics across managed markets customer segments and channels.
  • Identify and develop additional market access opportunities, including potential collaborations involving HEOR, real-world evidence, clinical utility, outcomes research, case management and other strategic initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain sophisticated, consultative relationships with key decision-makers across payers and health systems, including Medical Directors, Pharmacy Directors, case management leaders and other influential stakeholders.
  • Serve as a recognized market access expert and trusted advisor to external customers, bringing relevant oncology, payer, policy, reimbursement and healthcare marketplace insights to customer engagements.
  • Lead strategies to obtain and maintain appropriate formulary positioning, coverage, coding, payment and reimbursement for Karyopharm products across national, regional and government accounts.
  • Anticipate changes in payer policies, reimbursement regulations, competitive dynamics and the broader healthcare environment and translate those changes into actionable recommendations for Karyopharm.
  • Partner with the Commercial organization to identify and address reimbursement, patient access and account-level barriers and support effective pull-through of access.
  • Share insights, strategies and best practices that can be leveraged beyond the Market Access organization to shape broader Commercial and corporate strategy.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor across the Market Access organization, contributing to the development and education of colleagues and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate on the development of market access tools, resources and capabilities that strengthen Karyopharm’s ability to engage customers and compete effectively.
  • Represent Karyopharm at relevant professional association meetings and industry conferences, including AMCP, Asembia and COA.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies and industry guidelines.
Candidate Profile & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare or related industry experience.
  • 7+ years of strategic account management and/or market access experience, including responsibility for sophisticated payer or organized customer accounts.
  • 5+ years of oncology and/or rare disease market access experience strongly preferred.
  • Significant experience working with National and Regional Payers, PBMs, Government accounts, IDNs and other organized customers.
  • Recent launch experience in oncology, rare disease and/or products serving small patient populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute national or enterprise-level market access and account strategies.
  • Deep understanding of payer decision-making processes, formulary management, coverage, reimbursement, coding, payment and patient access.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and negotiating complex payer contracts, preferably involving oncology or specialty products.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, contracting strategy and the financial considerations associated with securing and maintaining profitable access.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex customer business models and identify opportunities that create value for both the customer and Karyopharm.
  • Established credibility and relationships with senior payer and organized customer stakeholders strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Recognized subject matter expertise in oncology market access, payer dynamics and the evolving healthcare marketplace.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and translate strategy into execution.
  • Demonstrated leadership through mentoring, knowledge-sharing and development of colleagues.
  • Ability to operate effectively with significant autonomy while maintaining strong alignment with broader Market Access and corporate priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as necessary.
