You will be the primary communications partner for our CEO and a strategic advisor to our broader executive bench, ensuring a consistent and compelling leadership presence across speaking events, press and podcast engagements, and influencer collaborations. Ideal candidates are passionate about Planet's mission to image the world every day and make change visible, accessible, and actionable.

This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.

Impact You'll Own:
  • Executive Thought Leadership: Serve as the primary communications lead for Planet's CEO developing and expanding a narrative that combines space, AI, sustainability, security, and more.
  • Content Strategy & Creation: Lead the strategy and execution of high-level content, including top tier press opportunities,op-eds, keynote presentations, and long form messaging for major industry shifts. Collaborate closely with social media lead on owned content and profile growth.
  • Global Event Presence: Drive executive strategy and presence at top-tier global forums such as the Munich Security Conference (MSC), World Economic Forum, and more.
  • Executive Bench Support: Act as a strategic advisor and ghostwriter for our executive bench, including Ashley Johnson (President & CFO), Robbie Schingler (Co-Founder & CSO), James Mason (Chief Space Officer), and Charlie Candy (Chief Revenue Officer).
  • Internal & External Alignment: Collaborate closely with Marketing, Government Affairs, and Product teams to ensure executive messaging is synchronized with Planet's core values, mission, and commercial objectives.

What You Bring:
  • Experience: 6-8 years of relevant work experience in executive communications, corporate communications, or a related field, preferably within a high-growth technology environment.
  • Executive Presence: Ability to work directly with C-suite leaders, providing firm, actionable feedback and navigating dynamic personalities with many competing priorities.
  • Exceptional Writing: A master storyteller with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling positions for a non-technical, global audience. Immaculate attention to detail.
  • Strategic Agility: Success in developing earned and owned media programs that deliver measurable brand awareness and credibility. You're a self-starter who thrives on proactivity and bringing things to the table vs. waiting to be asked.

What Makes You Stand Out:
  • Industry Savvy: Existing relationships within major media outlets, events, and influencers.
  • Multimedia Expertise: Experience with multi-media storytelling, including video scripts and digital engagement strategies for platforms like LinkedIn and X.
  • Geopolitical Acumen: Knowledge of the intersection between commercial space capabilities and national security.
