Job Description:

This position leads the design, development, production and consultation on various internal and external communications materials and media. Additionally, it provides leadership for communications teams that support the Excavation Division and China Operations Division within our Construction Industries segment. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Strategy Communications – Collaborate with division leadership to create communications plans and deliverables that are aligned to the enterprise, segment and division strategy and related initiatives:

    • Develop and implement an annual internal and external communications strategy supporting the business

    • Consult with senior leaders, managers and employees on messaging using the power of words, images, sounds and multi-media

  • Advise on communication formats to ensure clarity and accuracy of messaging

  • Own internal employee communications including strategy, channels, tools and messaging

  • Partner with division leaders to drive and deploy change management communications, ensuring employees and stakeholders are informed, engaged, and aligned throughout key transformation initiatives

  • Executive Communications – Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the division’s senior vice president

    • Develop and implement a communications strategy to establish the senior vice president’s voice to their employees and to promote the division across the enterprise

    • Create effective communication strategies to be used across a variety of audiences including employees, dealers and external audiences

    • Contributes to the overall strategic business goals and plans of the division

  • Deliverables to Include – Communications strategies and plans; key message development; presentations for internal and external audiences; video scripts; internal articles; social media content

What You Will Have (Basic Skills Required):

  • Organizational Communications: Significant experience leading global communications efforts with an emphasis on external communications (i.e. media relations, social media, tech communications, branding)

  • Strategic Thinking and Planning: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Knowledge of effective communications planning techniques and ability to contribute to strategic planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, technical information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors

  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization

  • Interpersonal Relationships: Successful in supporting and interacting with senior-level executives; excellent interpersonal skills to engage on sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Education/Experience: College or university degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience delivering strategies and communications that effectively support change initiatives and alignment to organizational/business goals 

  • Experience as a strategic communications advisor to C-level executives including writing communications and developing presentations 

  • Ability to create and tell stories through visual mediums (graphic design, video, etc.) 

  • A proven ability to thrive within a complex, matrixed environment 

Additional Information:

  • The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL or Singapore.

  • This role may require flexible or unique working hours to accommodate collaboration with team members across Asia. Hours may vary depending on time zone differences, and you may be expected to work outside standard U.S. business hours at times. This is designed to ensure smooth coordination and timely delivery of work.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify 

  • Sponsorship is not available 

  • Must be able to travel up to 15% (Domestic & International)

  • Candidates must be able to provide samples of work (writing, graphic design, video, etc.) 


 

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
