Job Purpose

The Executive Vice President, Engineering is a senior executive leader responsible for the strategy, organization, and performance of Tungsten Automation Corporation's global engineering function, spanning software development, quality assurance, localization, and technical communications across all product lines. This position sets the technical vision and engineering roadmap in partnership with the executive leadership team, builds and leads a multi-layered organization of engineering leaders, and is accountable for the operating performance, scalability, reliability, and quality of the company's entire product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

The role carries executive accountability for the engineering organization's strategy, budget, and results. This position leads a global team of engineering directors, managers, and technical staff, and partners with the CEO, CTO, and other executive leaders to align engineering execution with corporate strategy.

Responsibilities include:
  • Own the strategic direction and execution of engineering across the entire product portfolio, ensuring successful, on-time delivery of multiple large-scale, concurrent programs spanning all product lines.
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing, multi-layered engineering organization; recruit, mentor, and develop engineering directors and managers across multiple global locations.
  • Set the technology strategy for the organization, evaluating and championing new technologies, platforms, and third-party solutions that create competitive advantage for Tungsten Automation Corporation's products.
  • Own the engineering budget and resource strategy, including planning, acquisition, allocation, and management of hardware, software, and headcount investments across the organization.
  • Serve as an executive escalation point for Technical Support and Sales on complex technical and product matters, ensuring rapid resolution of critical customer issues.
  • Define, evolve, and govern the Tungsten Automation Corporation Product Development Process enterprise-wide, ensuring consistent quality and delivery standards across all engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with Product Management and the executive team to shape the long-term product and technology vision, ensuring short-term engineering decisions and trade-offs support long-term corporate strategy.
  • Represent Engineering to the Board of Directors, executive leadership, and key customers/partners, and contribute to company-wide strategic planning, M&A technical diligence, and investment decisions.
  • Leads the design, implementation, and governance of AI-enabled solutions, ensuring alignment with business strategy, ethical standards, compliance requirements, and long-term workforce impact.

Required Experience

Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive software engineering leadership experience, including significant experience building and scaling enterprise solutions, and 5+ years in a senior executive role (VP/SVP/EVP) overseeing multi-product engineering organizations.
  • Proven track record building, scaling, and leading high-performing global engineering organizations of 100+ employees, including 10+ years leading agile engineering teams at the director/VP level and above.
  • Experience partnering with executive peers (Product, Sales, Customer Success, Finance) and reporting to the CEO/CTO on engineering strategy and results.
  • Experience defining, enforcing, and continuously improving enterprise-wide development processes and engineering standards.
  • Ability to define infrastructure and technology investment strategy and partner with IT/Security leadership on enterprise architecture.
  • Deep expertise in architectural and technical design decisions across complex, distributed commercial software products, with broad knowledge of modern technologies such as C++, C#, SQL Server, Angular, Java, Git, cloud platforms, and AI/ML-enabled development practices.
  • Experience engaging directly with strategic customers and partners to resolve escalated product and technical issues, with an exceptional customer service orientation and a deep-rooted drive to deliver best-in-class user experiences at enterprise scale.
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with Product Management, Technical Publications, and QA leadership at an executive level.
  • Extensive experience developing, scaling, and supporting commercial, enterprise-grade software products.
  • Exceptional talent strategy skills, with a track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering leaders and building a strong leadership bench.
  • Proven experience managing multi-year technology roadmaps, forecasting resource requirements, and setting and managing multi-million dollar engineering budgets.
  • Executive-level interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, and proven experience interfacing with the Board of Directors, C-suite executives, outside partners, and customers.
  • High level of executive presence and self-motivation, with a demonstrated track record of driving results, and the ability to manage and prioritize a large, complex portfolio of concurrent projects and initiatives within an agile, dynamic, and fast-growing business.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.
