Full Job Description
The Role

We're seeking an Events leader to co-create and operationalize powerful, engaging events in collaboration with each functional area at Paradigm (investing, research, policy, marketing, operations). Paradigm's events program exists to support the researchers, builders, founders and technologists shaping the frontier of technology. Some of these events are small, some are large, some have games and adventures, others are technical deep dives. All are close to the metal of what's getting built at the edges of technology.

The person we hire will own the production and execution of events across our portfolio, spanning highly technical research days (e.g., summits for researchers), founder and portfolio-facing gatherings (e.g., founder retreats and fellowships), and institutional or policy-facing convenings (e.g., investor summits and policy programs), as well as recurring community events in our core markets. This role requires close collaboration across the firm and will report to Paradigm's Head of Events, Josie Franciose McGuinn. Being deeply plugged into the San Francisco and frontier tech community is a 10x factor.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute on a segment of Paradigm events, including production, programming, project management, budgets, and post-event wrap
  • Drive guest-facing marketing and communication strategy for events
  • Create unique experiences for a diverse set of high-performing audiences including founders, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers
  • Own venue and vendor relationships and ensure all internal and external stakeholders are kept up-to-date on planning, schedules, and logistics.
  • Provide day-of event management to deliver high quality, successful, and professional events.
  • Support large-scale projects across the department
  • Navigate a fast-paced environment and execute on tight timelines to meet event objectives

Qualifications and Experience
  • 8+ years of events experience owning a mix of events end-to-end including private dinners, receptions, industry events, fireside chats, panels, conferences and summits
  • Experience creating events in one or more of the following areas: investment & venture, frontier technology, public policy, recruiting, media
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding a suite of firm-internal AI tools, and developing your own tools where appropriate
  • Trustworthy and adept at handling confidential information
  • High EQ, with the ability to stay calm and be solutions-oriented while resolving last-minute needs in high-visibility situations
  • Excellent organizational and logistical skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written
  • Intense curiosity and open-mindedness
  • Scrappy; willing to roll up sleeves
  • Team player
  • Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines
