General Information

Work Location: Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Boulevard Palmetto FL 34221 and Powel Crosley Estate 8374 North Tamiami Trail
Work Hours: 40hrs weekly, varying to support events. Evenings, Weekends and Holidays as needed to support events.

Expected Starting Annual Range: $65,118.41 - $84,653.94
Area of Assignment: Convention and Visitors Bureau

This classification is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all event related activities at the Bradenton Area Convention Center and the Powel Crosley Estate, which includes the maintenance and alcohol service departments.

Note: This position is designated by the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners as serving at the will and pleasure of the County Administrator. Employment in this position is at will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Working Conditions

Job Description
Essential Functions:

Day to day requirements include scheduling and overseeing of all event related personnel, including hiring and terminating temporary/on-call staff.

Plans, assigns, directs and evaluates the work of assigned staff.

Determines tasks to be performed and personnel required for each event; will at times advise crew members of work schedules; supervises set-ups, tear-downs and clean-ups.

Recommends additional or replacement equipment and supplies when deemed advisable; keeps up-to-date on new equipment, methods and technology.

Responsible for procurement and inventory of related equipment and supplies.

Works with third party vendor in menu development for concessions and other events.

Assists with creation and implementation of departmental policies, goals, objectives and procedures, conferring as necessary with staff members.

Determines goods and services to be sold and advises as to prices of said goods and services.
Performs other related work (including weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.

Supervises the Event Coordinator, Special Events/Technical Manager, Maintenance Manager and Beverage Service Managers. Acts as liaison with third party providers of Audio Visual and Food and Beverage services.

Will coordinate events that are contracted at the Bradenton Area Convention and Civic Center and Powel Crosley Museum.

Supervises or coordinates all maintenance activities at the Bradenton Area Convention and Civic Center.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Three (3) or more years of experience working in a Convention & Civic Center or related event industry.

Prior supervisory/lead experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of department or division operations and programs.
Knowledge of modern management methods and practices.
Ability to exercise mature judgment and to make independent decisions in accordance with established department or division policies and procedures.
