Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism (PWCDEDT) seeks an experienced and highly organized Events Manager to design, plan, and oversee experiences that promote the county's economic development goals.
About This Role:

This role involves end-to-end event management, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic marketing to ensure each event enhances community engagement, encourages business connections, and elevates Prince William County as a destination for businesses and visitors alike. Ideal candidates will possess strong project management skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners to deliver memorable experiences.
Key Responsibilities

From high-energy education conferences and business networking expos to community celebrations and regional career fairs, the Events Manager ensures seamless guest experiences-connecting people, ideas, and opportunities.
Event Planning & On-Site Execution
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse portfolio of events-ensuring all logistics are in place and aligned with strategic goals.
  • Oversee event setup and breakdown, manage schedules, and ensure on-the-ground support to address any surprises or last-minute changes.
  • Deliver a seamless and positive guest experience at every event, from registration and signage to ambiance and follow-up.


Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
  • Maintain and grow strong relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and event partners to enhance participation and visibility.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage vendors-including caterers, venues, rental companies, and A/V providers-to ensure high-quality service and on-time delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and partners, clearly communicating expectations and logistics.

Marketing & Promotion Collaboration
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team to develop and promote event campaigns, ensuring messaging and branding are cohesive and targeted.
  • Coordinate timelines and assets for email campaigns, social media, signage, and promotional materials.

Post-Event Reporting & Evaluation
  • Gather and analyze post-event feedback, participation data, and stakeholder input to measure success and identify areas for growth.
  • Compile summary reports and recommendations to inform future event planning and improve outcomes.
  • Track and report on event performance metrics tied to departmental goals, economic impact, and community engagement.
  • Stay informed on industry trends to propose fresh ideas that elevate the guest experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  • GED or high school diploma
  • 5+ years of proven experience. in event planning, hospitality, marketing or a related field

Preferences:
  • Bachelor's degree in event planning, hospitality, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple events at a time and understanding budgets.
  • A sense of humor and a love of experimenting with new trends.
  • Passion for collaboration and bringing a playful spirit to team projects.
  • Experience in economic development or public-sector marketing is a plus.
  • Experience with event software and registration systems.
  • Ability to work weekends or evenings when the event calls for it and keep the energy high.
