Summary

The Event Driven & Arbitrage Desk Analyst will be responsible for producing high-quality event-driven investment content and actionable trade ideas focused on merger arbitrage, special situations, corporate actions, and other event-driven opportunities. The Strategist will play a key role in analyzing transactions and market developments, translating those insights into actionable ideas for institutional clients, and partnering closely with the Event & Arbitrage Trading team and client-facing teams to communicate and refine investment strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish insightful event-driven and arbitrage content based on corporate transactions, market developments, and investment themes.
  • Identify and analyze opportunities across merger arbitrage, special situations, restructurings, spin-offs, tender offers, and other corporate events.
  • Evaluate transaction structures, deal terms, potential catalysts, risks, and market dynamics to support actionable investment ideas.
  • Develop investment frameworks and analytical methodologies for assessing event-driven opportunities.
  • Monitor corporate actions, regulatory developments, transaction updates, and market conditions that may affect investment outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with Event & Arbitrage traders, sales teams, research teams, and clients to communicate and refine trade ideas.
  • Participate in client meetings and marketing efforts to discuss event-driven strategies, investment opportunities, and relevant market developments.
  • Provide strategic perspectives on portfolio construction, risk considerations, and positioning within event-driven opportunities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of equity markets, corporate transactions, and event-driven investing to support ongoing idea generation.


Qualifications & Requirements

Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
  • Strong background in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in event-driven investing, merger arbitrage, special situations, equity research, investment strategy, or related buy-side or sell-side roles.
  • Strong understanding of corporate actions, transaction structures, capital markets, and event-driven investment strategies.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis capabilities.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)
  • Ability to evaluate investment opportunities through both return-potential and risk-oriented frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex investment ideas clearly and effectively with both internal teams and institutional clients.
  • Strong attention to market developments and the ability to adjust investment views as transaction facts and market conditions evolve.
  • Proficiency with market data platforms, financial modeling tools, and data analytics software.


Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each work day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
