Job Summary:

This role is responsible for investigating field returns, production failures, and customer-reported issues to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and drive continuous product improvements. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in power electronics with a structured, analytical approach to failure analysis. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Supply Chain, and global product teams, this position plays a critical role in improving product reliability, reducing warranty costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation
    • Perform comprehensive electrical, mechanical, and system-level failure analyses on EV fast charging equipment, subassemblies, and electronic components.
    • Analyze field returns, production failures, and customer-reported issues to determine root causes.
    • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, and 5 Whys.
    • Develop, execute, and document test plans to reproduce failure modes and validate corrective actions.
    • Perform detailed troubleshooting using electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
    • Evaluate failed components to distinguish between design, manufacturing, supplier, installation, or application-related issues.


  • Repair & Technical Analysis
    • Establish and maintain standardized repair and analysis processes for field returns and production units.
    • Execute repairs on high-voltage power electronic assemblies and charging systems while maintaining detailed technical documentation.
    • Develop repair strategies and recommendations for recurring product failures.
    • Ensure repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.


  • Product Quality & Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Procurement, and Logistics to implement corrective and preventive actions.
    • Identify recurring failure trends and recommend product, process, or supplier improvements.
    • Support validation testing for engineering changes and product enhancements.
    • Participate in design reviews by providing field performance and reliability feedback.


  • Customer & Cross-Functional Support
    • Serve as the technical lead for customer-related hardware investigations.
    • Coordinate comprehensive 360-degree analyses of customer issues from initial failure through corrective action.
    • Prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      Support service teams by providing advanced troubleshooting guidance and repair recommendations.


  • Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Maintain detailed records of analyses, repairs, and corrective actions.
    • Utilize statistical analysis tools to identify reliability trends and recurring failure modes.
    • Develop KPIs and metrics related to repair effectiveness, failure trends, and product reliability.
    • Present technical findings and recommendations to management and engineering leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related engineering discipline. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in failure analysis, repair engineering, reliability engineering, or power electronics development.
  • Strong understanding of structured failure analysis methodologies including:
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • FMEA
    • 8D Problem Solving
    • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical and electronic systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-power DC fast charging systems or EV charging infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering and product lifecycle analysis.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software and reliability reporting tools.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and high-voltage testing procedures.

Compensation for this role will be based on experience, location, and market conditions. A salary range will be provided where required by law.
