Description

The Staff Estimator will be responsible for performing FEL 1, 2 and 3 estimates, participating in the development of EPC and bid check estimates for Midstream projects (emphasis on renewable gas plants and compressor stations). This position will develop accurate bottom-up estimates credible and professionally while minimizing risk to the company.
  • Develop factored and bottoms up FEL 1, 2 and 3 (conceptual, feasibility and budget authorization) estimates for pipeline facility projects, and in particular renewable gas plants and compressor stations.
  • Develop estimate schedules to manage workload and ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Review RFP and engineering documents for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.
  • Responsible for detail documentation of quantity take offs and constructability analysis.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.
  • Review project summary schedules for validity.
  • Support the development of risk registers and assist the risk review process.
  • Responsible for compliance with estimating methodology ensuring quality estimates are produced.
  • Participate in project team reviews for estimating quantities and scope of project.
  • Responsible for reviewing and incorporating quotes on bonds and insurance.
  • Perform small and disadvantaged business solicitations and evaluations.
  • Support subcontractor pre-qualification, solicitation and bid reviews.
  • Review and verify subcontractor bid packages before being transmitted for quotes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and incorporating specialty and standard equipment and material pricing.
  • Support the development of general conditions, indirect costs and review with project management team.
  • Support the review of final estimate and presentation to management.
  • Present the estimate to internal and external clients.
  • Support the Section Manager in the determination of a man hour estimate for the required estimating effort.
  • Review and validate value engineering items, alternates, and options.
  • Responsible for updating cost history and database management.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, and 3 years of direct project estimating experience required.
  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Ability to work independently or in groups, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with estimating software preferred.
  • Experience with oil, gas, chemical, power, or industrial construction practices preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required.
