Job Description:This roles provides estimating management and support during the preconstruction process. This position focuses on the creation and analysis of detailed cost information. This role can either work onsite 4 days a week in Minneapolis, Chicago, or Austin office.
Some things you can expect to do:- Work with project managers to develop conceptual and detailed estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs of all construction systems.
- Create project estimates individually and with a team.
- Solicit subcontractor pricing for budgeting and bid proposals.
- Scope and select subcontractors based on best value and project requirements.
- Record final estimates and maintain cost history.
- Support the development, architectural, and construction team with preconstruction expertise including value design, costs, project schedule, procurement, and project pursuits.
- Train Cost Engineers and Project Management staff.
- Review and provide feedback on project estimates created by the project managers. Provide direction for understanding project scope, market pricing, and available resources
- Assist clients and developers with conceptual budgets of types. Capable of cost modeling using Uniformat II system costs
To be successful in this role you should have:- 4 engineering, architectural or management degree required, or experience in relevant field.
- 6+ years commercial construction experience.
- Knowledge of construction means and methods and able to read and understand project plans.
- Proficiency with CSI and Uniformat II work breakdown structures.
- Be able to perform thoughtful and accurate quantity take offs, and summarize data in a meaningful way.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel. Working knowledge of OST, Bluebeam, VICO, Navisworks, and Revit a plus.
- Knowledge of design-build, CM at Risk, and best-value processes.
- Able to teach skills and knowledge to others.
- Knowledge of construction means and methods, building types, and procurement methods.
- Able to listen, prioritize, and value the opinions of others.
Compensation:The annual salary is $99,000 - 120,000 per year. The base salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities.
