YOU ARE A MULTI-TASKER AND HIGHLY ORGANIZED. You can effectively manage multiple bids at a time, being pulled in multiple directions, and can prioritize urgent matters as they arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
In the first 30 days and ongoing:
- Learn Eleven Western Builders' services, processes, procedures, and business lines.
- Learns Eleven Western Builders' estimating process; reviewing plans, setting up project trades, inviting subcontractors, writing pre-bid RFIs, budgeting general conditions, and reviewing bids for accuracy.
- Learns how to use estimating software.
- Learn project management software i.e. Timberline Sage program and ProCore.
- Builds positive working relationships with the Estimating Team, Subcontractors, Project Managers, General Superintendents, and Leadership.
By the 90-day mark and ongoing:
- Fully understands the project bidding process and is bidding on projects on their own, asking questions as needed.
- Has a foundational understanding of the bidding process and process to produce accurate general conditions and bid qualifications.
- Works closely with the Project Manager to hand off a complete bid package at the time of the award.
- Builds a positive working relationship with Clients and Architectural teams.
Within the 6th to 9th month mark and ongoing:
- Has a full understanding of the estimating process, setting up project trades, inviting subcontractors, attending pre-bid meetings, discussing project scopes per trade and ensuring accurate coverage, creating general conditions, and bid qualifications.
- Proactively communicating with clients for bid results and future opportunities, attending weekly management meetings, and providing support for the project management team.
- Problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism.
By the 12th month mark and ongoing:
- Is a fully integrated member of the team, able to consistently and proactively bid on multiple projects from start to finish independently.
- Exhibits a positive attitude and drive when working on all projects, simple or complex, working to deliver the best outcome.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of project estimating experience in the construction industry
- Must be able to read and understand project plans and specifications
- Knowledge of general contracting and sub-contracting process, how to construct a building, terms, methods, and scheduling
- Ability to learn how to utilize estimating software effectively.
- Ability to bid 2-3 projects in parallel, ranging up to 6M, as well as bid larger projects, ranging up to 20M
- Proficient with computer skills, working with various office equipment, computers, and various programs, including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook, and edit/markup Adobe PDFs
- Possession of a valid CA Driver's License, good driving history, and dependable transportation required.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
