Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for heavy civil construction projects managing full estimating lifecycle, from bid document review through submission and project close-out.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to determine scope and constructability.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing, particularly for electrical and other specialized scopes.
  • Develop and write technical proposals and bid documentation to support project submissions.
  • Support technical writing and communication required for bid packages and internal reviews.
  • Analyze project schedules and understand impacts on cost and resources.
  • Utilize scheduling knowledge, including familiarity with Primavera P6, to interpret construction timelines during estimating.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate cost assumptions and bid strategies.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews and contribute to project close-out and lessons learned for future estimates.
  • Leading project meetings and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of combined experience in construction project management and estimating, preferably in ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience estimating heavy civil or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and bid preparation.
  • Proficiency with HeavyBid estimating software is preferred.
  • Understanding of construction schedules and Primavera P6 is an asset.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong technical writing and proposal development skills.
