Responsibilities

Overview:

Veeco's process equipment solutions enable the manufacture of LEDs, displays, power electronics, compound semiconductors, hard disk drives, semiconductors, MEMS and wireless chips. We are the leader in MOCVD, MBE, Ion Beam, Wet Etch single wafer processing and other advanced thin film process technologies. Our high-performance systems drive innovation in energy efficiency, consumer electronics and network storage and allow our customers to maximize productivity and achieve lower cost of ownership.

We are currently looking for an Engineering Technician to work in a team environment to assist engineers to maintain and support development of Veeco's deposition equipment located in our San Jose Applications Lab as well as provide support to daily operations of the lab.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform set up and preventative maintenance of processing equipment
  • Read and follow various schematics, diagrams, and plans to perform set up, test and trouble-shooting functions
  • Diagnose and repair system performance issues using high precision electrical, optical and mechanical test equipment
  • Create and execute experimental test plans and perform analysis to validate system performance
  • Work with Development Engineers as required resolving diverse & complex issues found during system integration
  • Support engineering activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of electromechanical and vacuum systems
  • Participate in small team efforts that address product-level issues (such as design issues, supplier issues, manufacturing escalations, or improvement projects)
  • Managing internal stock for Applications lab


Qualifications:

4-6 years related experience as an Equipment Technician in an Engineering related field (preferably Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial) and familiarity with vacuum equipment and wafer processing equipment in SEMI is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and control systems
  • Hands-on person with good troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with technicians, engineering, program managers and management
  • Able to communicate with multidisciplinary teams and be willing to take on responsibility, follow through to completion on simultaneous assignments while remaining on a schedule
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical information from documentation and on the job training
  • Commitment to achieving results while under time constraints with a high level of energy and dedication
  • Ability to use computer-based systems is required - Must be familiar with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
  • Willingness to travel, work overtime, weekends as required to meet project deliverable requirements
  • Military experience is a plus
  • Associates degree or higher is preferred.

Salary and BenefitsThe expected salary range for this position is $78,587 to $99,543, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
