Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provides expertise in investment projects in the areas of plant infrastructure, manufacturing equipment, and reliability management systems.
  • Facilitates criticality evaluation of the site assets.
  • Develops and enforces the maintenance strategy aligned with BD Excellence.
  • Uses the appropriate tools and processes for criticality assessment, risk base analysis, maintenance plan development, diagnosis, and root cause analysis.
  • Develops and enforces the site technical standards. Analyzes maintenance data to trigger improvement projects and improve the life cycle of site assets.


Accountability:
  • Support the maintaining of up-to-date knowledge and awareness of improvement methodologies and new techniques in maintenance engineering and their relevance to the site operations, including safety requirements, recommendations to ensure continuous improvements in equipment performance and availability as well as integration of maintenance best practices for BD equipment reliability for asset utilization.
  • Facilitate the definition of site maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods, aligning with maintenance budget and assets criticality.
  • Verify the application of criteria for developing and accepting new or modified assets and ensures optimal availability, maintainability, and reliability of new equipment as well as assets documentation, including manuals, schemes and other related documents, maintenance plans.
  • Coordinate the development and update of maintenance plans and spare part classification including the upload on the CMMS, providing the support for maintenance planning/scheduling and spare part management.
  • Enlist support from the Process Engineer to diagnose high-complexity breakdown issues.
  • Coach the Maintenance Team and other related roles to investigate all significant and repetitive failures to identify causes and initiate corrective actions as well as other reliability tools.
  • Promote BD Best Practice Networks, DPM and Asset Care culture
  • Participates in staff development, defining training and skill development.
  • Train and support staff on maintenance and reliability tools.
  • Ensure failure analysis results with optimization of the maintenance plans.
  • Monitor and control nonvalue added, MTTR, MTBF, failure trends and maintenance costs to identify priorities, trigger re-evaluation of criticality, possible asset modification or decommissioning required. Ensure up to date key process indicators and actions.
  • Conducts regular audits
  • Analysis and optimizes preventive and corrective maintenance processes considering constraints and needs of other functions.
  • Ensure that effective performance review is in place and that measurement and review drives continuous improvement projects.
  • Follow new technologies to develop appropriate solutions for the site, anticipate changes and optimize investment and running costs.
  • Ensures harmonization of processes, promotes, and enforces technical standards
  • Benchmark engineering and Maintenance results against other BD sites and external references.


Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Minimum Education:

This position has the following minimum educational requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED: Required
  • Associates Degree - Required
  • BA/BS Degree - Preferred - Science, Industrial management, Engineering or a related field
  • In lieu of associate degree, 5 years Technical or manufacturing experience required
  • 2 years Medical Device Manufacturing Experience preferred


Minimum Experience:
  • 3 years' experience in manufacturing preferred
