Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy-and the need for commodities-is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary:

The EPC Transformation Strategy Manager leads the strategic definition and execution of the Mining & Metals (M&M) EPC Transformation agenda, driving delivery excellence that is faster, leaner, and more predictable, strengthening customer confidence and reinforcing Bechtel as a partner of choice. The role reports into the GBU EPC transformation manager.

This role integrates Digital Solutions (AI), Capital Intensity workstreams, Innovation Solutions, and Robotics in the Field into a cohesive transformation roadmap across the EPC value chain. The position bridges strategy and execution-ensuring transformation initiatives move from studies to execution, from pilots to scale, and from proof points to standard practice across regions and projects.

The role is designed for a mid-career professional (10-15 years) with strong EPC domain expertise, transformation leadership experience, and the ability to operationalize change through governance, metrics, and adoption.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Improve EPC delivery outcomes across cost, schedule, productivity, predictability, and competitiveness
  • Transition selected projects from EPCM to integrated EPC delivery models
  • Reduce capital intensity through early EPC decision influence and standardized, decision-enabling playbooks
  • Scale AI-enabled digital solutions that measurably support project performance
  • Build a credible repository of performance metrics and proof points to sustain adoption
  • Integrate AI, innovation solutions, and field robotics to enable step-change performance
  • Define and continuously refine the M&M EPC Transformation vision, value narrative, and success outcomes.
  • Support execution of the EPC Transformation Roadmap, integrating:
  • Translate strategic intent into quarterly execution plans, milestones, and adoption targets.
  • Ensure initiatives progress from study 1 pilot 1 execution 1 scale across projects and regions.
  • Coordinate execution of the Capital Intensity (CI) initiative, a decision-enabling playbook guiding selection of minimal viable solutions across the EPC value chain.
  • Support and integrate CI workstreams, including:
  • Ensure CI outputs directly support capex reduction, schedule certainty, and productivity improvements.
  • Embed CI concepts into business development value propositions and execution planning.
  • Drive adoption of transformation initiatives through training, communications, and embedded support.
  • Support enterprise objectives for digital, AI, and cybersecurity capability building.
  • Support strategic engagement with key clients to understand digital delivery expectations.
  • Translate customer expectations into internal delivery requirements and roadmaps.
  • Help position AI-enabled and capital-efficient delivery as a market differentiator in proposals and execution strategies.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires 10-15 years of experience in the EPC industry with strong understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls and demonstrated experience leading transformation or strategy-to-execution programs with measurable outcomes.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of EPC performance drivers:
    • Capital intensity
    • Productivity
    • Work packaging and workfront planning
    • Estimating and EAC
    • Schedule, cost, risk, and change management
  • Experience working with digital, analytics, and AI teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
  • Proven ability to operate in cross-functional, regional, and global delivery environments.
  • Strong executive communication skills and comfort presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience transitioning projects from EPCM to EPC delivery models (Preferred)
  • Exposure to AI/analytics solutions such as copilots, document intelligence, forecasting, and performance dashboards (Preferred)
  • Experience integrating innovation solutions or robotics into project execution (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with capital project benchmarking, productivity analysis, or time-and-motion studies (Preferred)
