Full Job Description
Applied Research Associates (ARA) seeks an experienced EOD Project Manager to support government Research and Development (R&D) efforts in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). This highly skilled person will participate in strategic discussions to support development programs of defeat technologies and material solutions to support global integration.

The Senior EOD Project Manager performs a variety of tasks, will provide consultation and direction on complex projects and will be a top-level contributor/specialist.

Applicants should have extensive experience in the areas of Explosive Ordinance Disposal support and best practices, paired with application in the design, implementation, and integration of supporting systems. Experience in biological, chemical, and mechanical EOD materials and devices is preferred.

This Project Manager investigates and analyzes unique or highly technical manufacturing systems and provides technical assistance in establishing procedures and methods to integrate support. You will evaluate complex programs and measures to assess the efficacy of integrations.

EOD Project Manager Security Clearance / Location / Requirements:

  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Clearance - this position requires a TS-SCI clearance.
  • Bachelors degree with 10-12 years of related work experience.
  • 3 years of experience at DTRA.
  • Location - this position requires residence near Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
  • Ability to clearly articulate new concepts and capabilities to the team and customers.
  • Experience in DOD Project management, Research and Development is preferred.
  • Travel (3 to 5 days a month) to advise and provide direction on advanced R&D programs.


EOD Project Manager Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serving as Senior EOD Project Manager to control development of assigned R&D technology.
  • Drive engineering project execution, develop and recommend technical guidance, track and report on status, and resolve blocking issues.
  • Coordinate cross-team efforts spanning internal customers and external partners.
  • Interfacing with external agencies supporting systems engineering, architecture, and/or design.
  • Performing Functional Allocation; Create and Maintain Specifications.
  • Supporting System Deployment developing and reviewing Factory, Installation, and Performance Acceptance Testing Documents.
  • Developing Requirements Verification Strategies and Plans.
  • Developing Integrated Systems Security Solutions.
  • Travel to customer facilities to assist with technical issues.


EOD Project Manager Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise with system analysis, design, delivery, verification, and troubleshooting of designated systems.
  • Generate technical documents, such as test plans and procedures.
  • Provide technical input/feedback to the development team.


Anticipated salary range: $160k-$180k. Offer may vary depending on experience and skill set.
