Position Overview

The Environmental Professional supports environmental compliance and permitting activities for the Union Bridge cement plant and New Windsor quarry, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while partnering with operations to promote responsible and sustainable manufacturing practices.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, permits, records, and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Monitor environmental performance and support compliance with air, water, waste, and spill prevention requirements.
  • Conduct field inspections, audits, sampling activities, and compliance assessments across plant and quarry operations.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to identify and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support regulatory inspections, agency communications, permitting efforts, and environmental aspects of capital projects and operational changes.


What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in an environmental compliance role within a manufacturing, industrial, mining, aggregates, cement, or similar heavy industry environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting air permitting, emissions compliance, or other environmental permitting programs preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.


Work Environment
  • Based at our Union Bridge, Maryland cement plant with responsibility supporting both the plant and New Windsor quarry operations.
  • Combination of office and field work in an active heavy industrial environment.
  • Regular plant, quarry, and conveyor system inspections are required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment.
  • Occasional travel for training, regulatory meetings, or business needs may be required.
