Full Job Description
We are looking for an The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician Level 2 to join a dynamic team in College Park, MD. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Technician Level 2 supports and manages Occupational Safety and Health programs in compliance with OSHA regulations, the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Department of Defense (DoD) requirements, and other applicable standards. This role ensures a safe and compliant laboratory and workplace environment through proactive monitoring, inspections, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain environmental standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with applicable guidelines. • Identify, assess, and address environmental safety and health concerns across the workplace. • Maintain and monitor hazardous chemical inventories and ensure proper tracking of all materials entering the lab environment. • Conduct routine workplace safety inspections, audits, and compliance assessments. • Coordinate with project leaders to develop and implement remediation plans for identified health and safety risks. • Ensure availability and accuracy of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) prior to introducing substances into the work environment. • Serve as a liaison with Occupational Health, Environmental & Safety Services (OHESS) and other regulatory bodies. • Assist scientific and technical staff in developing SOPs that incorporate safe work practices. • Investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring proper documentation and reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements. • Ensure hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled in compliance with safety standards. • Monitor and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure readiness and compliance. • Oversee routine and post-incident decontamination procedures. • Maintain and distribute safety-related documentation and guidance to staff. • Coordinate with emergency services as needed in response to incidents. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resources, Public Health, or Environmental Health from an accredited institution. • 7 years of relevant experience in environmental protection, safety, and health services. - A Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience. - In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of experience may be substituted (total of 11 years required). • Hazardous Material Manager Certification (required). • Strong knowledge of OSHA, CFR, and DoD safety regulations. • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and incident investigations in regulated environments. • US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00 Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
