The Opportunity

Wajax Limited is currently seeking a full-time Permanent Safety Advisor. This is an in-person role with required travel. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Health & Safety administration and demonstrates excellent communication skills. This role requires both office and shop/field time allocation. The Wajax EH&S team prides itself on building strong, collaborative relationships across all departments, ensuring we provide meaningful support that strengthens leadership capabilities and aligns with our organizational core values.

The Role

Key Accountabilities for this role include:

  • Support, participate in and offer coaching to staff and leadership.
  • Conducts in-person and virtual site tours, ensuring effective safety practices while providing advice, guidance, and coaching.
  • Support remote branches through regular communication and virtual assistance.
  • Collaborates with leadership & JHSC with clients and external HS related matters.
  • Work collaboratively with the national EHS team on annual projects and strategic objectives.
  • Assist leadership in reviewing incident investigations and developing S.M.A.R.T corrective actions.
  • Ensures quality reviews and verification of corrective actions for timely closure.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings.
  • Advise, develop, maintain and assist with implementation of the health and safety programs.
  • Deliver training on a wide range of safety topics that support strategic and operational goals.
  • Review legislation, industry alerts, policies and procedures; monitors regulatory changes and recommend updates to workplace practices as needed.


The Candidate

  • Minimum three to five years of industrial experience in an OH&S or HSE Advisor role with a primary focus on Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation in Ontario is required.
  • Post secondary education related the OH&S or related field is required.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and communication abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Valid Class G driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation considered an asset.
  • Willing to travel up to 25%within Ontario.

Compensation:

Base pay $75,000.00-$90,000.00 per annum plus an Annual Incentive Bonus. Pay may vary based on skills, expertise, and performance, and is a component of the total rewards package.
