Full Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineer for employment in the Atlanta, GA office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal/CERCLA/FUDS projects including Superfund and DOD sites. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: • Conduct planning, implementation, and evaluation of data for CERCLA remediation investigations and remedial activities including RI, FS, ROD, PP and RDs. • Manage or participate in treatability studies and full scale implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation of environmental media. • Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope. • Prepare technical work plans and reports. • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance. • Plan, execute, analyze, and report on environmental measures in natural systems. • Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork. • Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations. • Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment. • Prepare basic data and scientific documents. • Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines. • Coordination with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. • Provide technical expertise support Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental Engineering or other related discipline. • 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education • Successful candidates will undergo a background and Motor vehicle records check where they must have a Valid U.S. Driver's License. • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with CERCLA RI/FS/RD processes on Superfund and DOD sites. • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification with annual refresher training. • Professional registration or on track to obtain professional registration. • Experience with design and/or implementation of various remedial actions including in-situ treatment of groundwater for a variety of contaminants including cVOCs and PFAS. • Knowledge of treatability studies and implementation of in situ and ex situ contaminant remediation technologies. • Experience with investigation of PFAS in groundwater and soil. • Experience with task management and/or deputy project management activities. • Ability to travel for fieldwork and/or meetings. This position may require part-time travel (weeks at a time) within the Georgia and Florida areas. • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications. • Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills are desirable • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees. • Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator.
