Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Engineer or Scientist in our Atlanta, GA or Kennesaw, GA offices to support our Due Diligence and Environmental Management and Compliance Practice in our South Gulf Operations.  The position will dig into the details of environmental due diligence and environmental regulatory compliance and permitting, working closely with industrial and manufacturing clients as well as attorneys, while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supporting projects involving due diligence with substantial historic research including ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and other due diligence services.
  • Providing multi-media environmental compliance services, such as compliance audits and reviews, regulatory permitting, annual reporting, and other compliance services.
  • Developing compliance documents and permit applications associated with the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPRCA), and other regulatory statues. Experience in Georgia and with the Georgia Environmental Protection Division a plus and additional experience in the southeast geography (TX, LA, OK, GA, AL,) also helpful.   
  • Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.
  • Field work and travel (~30%) may also be required in support of due diligence (Phase II ESAs), site assessments, environmental audits, or regulatory support.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (required) 
  • Master’s degree in a similar field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., PE or CHMM). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of experience in an environmental consulting environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • An outstanding track record for client management and technical leadership. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. (preferred)
  • Detailed Federal and Georgia regulatory knowledge, especially CAA, CWA,  RCRA and EPCRA.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Korean foreign language skills. (preferred)
  • Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) 
  • Experience in the automotive, data centers, and manufacturing sector (preferred)
