Would you like to take your career to the next level? CDM Smith's Concord office has an immediate need of a mid-level engineer with a drinking water or wastewater design background to support senior engineers on a variety of water and wastewater projects in our Water Services Group locally and across the West Coast. Your tasks could include:
• With general direction, creating water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, water reuse facilities, chemical feed systems, pipelines, and pump stations engineering designs and planning reports to meet client project requirements
• Performing engineering work with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment process; water, stormwater and wastewater conveyance, pumping, and civil design and planning
• Reviewing draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and signing off on completed designs
• Leading engineering tasks, performing design calculations, and preparing design reports, plans, and specifications with oversight by more senior staff and support from junior staff
• Ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Performing field activities and site reviews, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications
• Providing technical guidance and training to junior staff; mentoring junior staff and developing them for future growth within the discipline and firm
• Delegating to and reviewing work of junior engineers.
• Corresponding/interacting directly with clients and contractors to discuss projects and present engineering designs
• Collaborating with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal
• Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices
• Meeting with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs
• Attending conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff
• Contributes to technical reports and early design documents to support project development.

Skills & Abilities
• Expert Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
• Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with design, permitting, and construction of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities is preferred.
• Expert knowledge of Bluebeam Revu for redlining and quality management of engineering contract documents

USD $104,562.00
Pay Range Max
USD $182,978.00
Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
