Minimum Requirements- Be at least 20 and under 35 years of age at the application deadline, unless exempt by state statute
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Possess a bachelor's degree, or qualify for an applicable educational waiver
- Applicants who do not currently possess a bachelor's degree must commit to obtaining a bachelor's degree within 24 months of hire and complete an educational waiver request as part of the employment application.
- The education requirement is waived for service members who have completed 36 months of honorable active-duty service.
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Have corrected vision of 20/20
- Be able to pass the POWER Test at the time of hire
- Provide a DD-214, if applicable

Step 2: City of Wheaton application & Document SubmissionApplicants who achieve a passing score on the NTN examination will receive direct communication from the City of Wheaton inviting them to complete the Entry-Level Police Officer Application and submit all required supporting documentation through a secure Microsoft SharePoint site. All application materials and supporting documents must be submitted no later than Friday, November 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
